Toughest resort to get at 7 months

Even though I have been a DVC owner for almost 3 years now, I have only stayed at my home resort SSR and OKW. I am a teacher and a coach so my window for vacatons is pretty small. Usually a couple of mid to late weeks in June and the first 3 weeks or so of August. So far only August trips. I am interested in trying other DVC resorts but realize they can be tough to get at 7 months out. I was hoping to get some kind of consensus from those of you with more experience in this area as to which resorts might be my best bet to try for in early or mid August? Which might be the hardest to get as well. Not too concerned about which resort. I have visited and really like all of them. Usually we stay in a 1 BR, not opposed to a Studio either. Any info and help would be greatly appreciated. By the way this forum and the people here have always given me such great info...thanks in advance.

standard view at BWV is almost as hard or harder than BCV.

I think in August your chances are pretty good anywhere. I'd say your least likely is a standard view BWV studio. Your best bet for standard view will be that one bedroom. If you are going for a one bedroom, should be - perhaps not easy - but I think likely pretty much anywhere. One bedrooms TEND to book last.

absolutely.
couldn't get BWV SV studio at 8 thru 10 1/2 months out a few times (for end of august).

:sunny:

The further into August you go, the easier it becomes. With so many schools starting their years so early now, any time after the first week of August should be much easier.

I agree about the BWV Standard View rooms though....those could be tough. Probably better luck with the BWV Boardwalk View rooms, though they can book up as well.

I think you'll have good luck at most DVC resorts during that time. One piece of advice....go ahead and book at your home resort for those dates as a fall back position. Since SSR point requirements are lower than BWV/BCV/VWL you won't be in a position of having to "tie up" more points than your eventual reservation will require...important if you have to borrow to make a reservation, for example.

I think you'll have a lot of success at 7 months during the times you describe. Good luck! :)

Low probability of getting standard or boardwalk view at BWV at 7 months during that time (and most times of year). Other BWV prefered rooms should be available as summer, except time around July 4, is not a peak season for DVC members. BCV and VWL are hit or miss during that time but often you can get one or the other. SSR and OKW are easy to get 7 months out during that time.

DD is also a teacher so we run into the same thing. I've never had a problem at 7 months (June or early August) for BCV. BWV, or VWL. Maybe I was just lucky or something. We think we have a window in mid-July vs June next year so we'll see what's available when I call. I'd prefer BCV's for that trip.

I booked a VWL studio at exactly 7 months out for Aug. 20 - 25 this year.

Bobbi :thumbsup2

Called at 3 months out for Aug. 27 - Sept. 4 BWV, VWL and 4 of the 8 nights of BCV were all available for a 1BR.

Maybe we were just very lucky too! or maybe it was pixie dust :wizard: this is our first trip as DVC member.

By the way, we decided on VWL and are soooo... looking forward to it. :dance3:

Thanks for the great info. The people here are the greatest for getting solid information and excellent advice.

If you are talking early June and mid August, I think there will likely be availability at most using the 7 month window. If you are talking holiday times, don't plan on it.

I have read that DVC peaks do not necesarily match standard WDW peak times. Has anyone put together a loose guide of when the DVC peak times are. All I have gleaned so far from the boards is DVC peaks are during Food & Wine and pretty much all of December.

those are generally the busiest. well Thanksgiving too. - this is a great time to try a holiday. Low points but since there are crowds - sometimes the hours are longer at the parks. the weather is better than in the summer.

I don't know for sure - but by the posts here January is becoming more and more popular every year. I can't travel in Jan or Feb - work.

some people say spring break - but I have never had a problem.

now the BCV is popular almost year long - with being close to Epcot and that great swimming pool.

jazzmanmgt, Mike, I think in middle to late August if you try at exactly the 7 month time - you might even get BCV.

I got standard view at BWV a couple of months ago for Sept - so even that is not impossible.

you won't know until you try. the only one I think would be a real problem is HH - it seems to be only popular in the summer months.

What is peak time for Disney that isn't for DVC is summer. Seems that summer isn't a popular DVC time.

We also own at SSR. We were able to book a preferred view (we had an excellent room, by the way!) studio for 3 nights at BWV the week of August 7th with no problem at the 7th month window.

As an aside, while we love SSR, it was great to experience another DVC resort - truly a wonderful benefit of DVC!

I got a BWV BW view for this past Memorial Day weekend, the last weekend in August (I leave Sunday!) and I just got it for St. Patty's day weekend (Thurs - Tues) all studios all booked at 7 months out! Gotta love BWV! Now if my waitlist for Dec. would come through......

Good luck, August has been easy for us to trade in so far, hope it works for you too :goodvibes
