Just seen this, every Thursday 5 to 6, $35 a head, blue membership card required. I thus assume DVD have 'commandeered' the TOTWL during this time and resale guests are not allowed in? Is this correct or will they just take a section? Also they have put a notice on the bottom that access to TOTWL is not part of membership and can be withdrawn at any time.
As I understood it TOTWL was paid by dues of BLT. If this is correct, how can DVD take it over, and exclude people (resale buyers) who may be paying dues for the lounge? Are DVD renting the lounge from the resort, and paying money to commandeer the lounge? If yes, who agreed and when? Imagine if DVD said 'we will have a members pool party at BLT, cards only, resale cannot attend' even though resale expect to go in the pool they are paying for. I cannot see the difference.
Any info or observations?

Disney/DVD/DVC can pretty much do what they want until the are challenged by someone.

IMO the whole "you didn't buy direct so screw you" is not the Disney that we grew up with. Just another example of greed dictating corporate policy and direction.

The event takes place before the TOTWL opens for the evening. Current operating hours are 6 pm to midnight.

Thanks Erionm I thought it was open all afternoon so that is V useful. As a BLT owner though I'd want to know if DVD were renting this space like any other corporate entity would have to. If yes that is good as it will reduce dues as income increases. If not, why not? And it should be at market rate.

Yes, whatever entity of Disney that is operating TOTWL is leasing the space from BLT owners.

Was just going to post that - although it used to open at 5PM. I was there the day after the change as I showed up at 5PM and sat there waiting.......

This was quite awhile ago when they made the change. I was just there drink a Tip Top Colada! :rotfl2:

In October may make a trip over to get one of those again and watch HEA although I think the Tip Top may have been removed from the menu?!

Seriously? Contact the DVC legal department if you are so concerned. Have you ever actually been to the TOTWL? It's not like a football field or anything. It is actually quite intimate. I do appreciate the restrictions for this event...and it is for ONE HOUR not the whole freaking night! So what exactly is your complaint? Some members, for one hour, can have a good time?

Edited to add....for a fee of $35...

You seem very upset about this. Enough to post it a couple of different places.

If I were that upset, I would contact them and question how this is funded and by whom.

Didn't have a complaint, wasnt upset, had a legitimate question. If something is paid for by dues (As I understand TOTWL is) how come those paying the dues cannot utilise the space? legitimate and quite reasonable question. If DVD are paying rent for it, fair enough. If not it's not acceptable. Someone above says they are paying rent, so I'm happy with the answer. Not sure why there is such aggression in 2 of these replies to a legitimate question. DVD are not giving this away, it's $35 To drink a few drinks for an hour.

Bartender will probably still make it for you even if it is off the menu. Olivia's made DH his favorite omelet last month even though it was no longer on the menu.

All DVC members have equal access to the TOTWL during REGULAR operating hours. This includes recent resale purchasers.
