I never understood the idea of how people think you can get sick from being wet all day. I mean, what about those days where you're in a bathing suit playing in the water all day?
Most likely when you're in your swimsuit you're hot in the hot sun. Your body is not cold. It's not so much the wet as it is the cold that causes problems. Your immune system is weakened because your cold body goes into over drive trying to warm itself.
So get rained on during a brief 20 minute rain storm, stay wet for several hours going in and out of AC, and yeah...that can make a person sick. My ds got drenched last week on the football field then was stuck in his wet uniform for about 4 hours after. Needles to say within two days he was sneezing his head off, coughing, fever, etc. Luckily he's better now....and he's my kid that is generally healthy as a horse.
We go the last week of August every year. The forecast always looks like the one you posted, if not worse. We've never had a washout, in all of our trips. 1 or 2 days of on and off thundershowers (an hour or less) and we got caught in a tropical storm one day (the very best day we've ever had a MK...magical with NO people and downpours in our ponchos...we loved it).
Rain in Florida doesn't mean all-day washout (normally). It means thunderous downpour once a day for a few minutes to an hour. Cools it off, clears out the park. Of course, it doesn't sound like you can be convinced...hopefully you can bring yourself to look forward to your trip, showers or not.
We'll be there at the same time-arriving Friday and leaving Tuesday night. I've got my ponchos ready to pack. It is kind of a bummer for MNSSHP to not be able to see the costumes because everyone has ponchos on . Not much you can do about it except go and be happy that you are able to be in WDW.
It was supposed to rain all except 2 days of our 10 day trip from 9/23-10/3 and it rained once, from about 4pm-10pm. That was it, not even a sprinkle otherwise. The weather reports are often incorrect in Fl and the weather itself is very unpredictable, there is no point in giving second thought to the forecast as it easily can change and there is still nothing you can do about it.
yeah I know what you mean. I was on the phone with my uncle this morning. He lives right outside dtd. he told me when it rains its usually in the beach areas and not to worry about it. it made me feel better.
