totally bummed

We like the rain -- just buy a poncho at the park if/when it rains. We always travel to Disney during peak hurricane season and have always had a fabulous time. I seriously doubt your trip will be a complete washout. Have a great time. :goodvibes

Hi gang,
Were just back from Wdw from our, well to be honest i lost count what trip # this was. Every year we go in aug or oct. Every year rain was forecast for everyday of our trip. This year it poured for about 25 minutes mid-afternoon one day and one night i was woken to thunderstorms about 3 am ish. That was it!

Last year we did'nt notice one drop of rain for our entire trip! Go, have fun. Trust me it won't rain constantly evey minute of everyday, but be prepared for quick rain/ thunderstroms. Say hi to the mouse for me!!

Go to the Dollar store a load up on ponchos. Quite expensive at the parks. We had some great times in the rain at WDW. The kids, that includes me, love to play in the rain. Just make sure there's no thunder or lightening.
Have Fun and remember being a weather forecaster is the only job you can have and be wrong 50% of the time and still keep your job. Pray for sunshine.

We went to the dollar store over the weekend and the manager said he hadn't been able to get those ponchos restocked for MONTHS now. Ug. But going through the backpack that hasn't been rummaged through since last year, I found two unopened packs of ponchos - we're covered for at least one wet day! :cool1:

We were there Sep 23 - Oct 1. It rained on the 23rd (travel day) and then again on 26th (Epcot) and then nothing again for the rest of the week. On the 26th it rained for the whole afternoon and evening. We spent a good couple of hours hiding out in Japan to escape the worst of it. Illuminations was still on that evening and the rain emptied the park out quite nicely.

The forecasts I saw before our trip had a chance of rain every day. By the end of the week we were wishing for rain - it was SOOOOO hot.

We're arriving on Saturday, too! The only day that's worrying me is Tuesday. The forecast I've been looking shows a HIGH of 70, cloudy and windy, with rain! I'm still hoping it's too early to trust the forecast!

If you were checking WESH2 -don't believe it. I saw an identical forecast for this coming Friday and came here to gripe about it...5 minutes later the forecast was changed back to what you'd expect this time of year..and what all the other sites were reporting. High's in the mid 80's and 30 to 40% chance of rain/scattered thunderstorms.

BTW, I will be at MNSSHP on Tues, the 11th....so it will not rain!

I wish there was a way I could a big ad on the DIS that would tell people not to worry about rain symbols in Orlando's forecast.

Very rarely do we get a total rainout. Most of the time, the rain is very spotty. One place might get a quick downpour, but every place else will be dry. Unless the percentage says something like 80 percent, don't give it another thought.

i saw some the other night that said 75% but i refuse to check it anymore. not worth getting upset over

i think i just need to stop checking up on the weather. it's just stressing me out

Totally agree! Even after telling myself that the forecasts were highly inaccurate a week out, I made the mistake of checking the forecast this morning, then beating my head against the wall for even checking and unnecessarily worrying myself.

The curse of the over-planner ... too much time on my hands and now I'm trying to control the weather!

We're arriving Sun. the 9th and I think I'll be picking up some extra rain ponchos at the Dollar tree before we come!

They were calling for rain off & on the whole time we were there, up to 60% some days. We had a very light sprinkle once for about 2 minutes. :thumbsup2

are fireworks canceled if it rains? im going to assume they are?

Nope! Winds are the big factor with the fireworks. We watched the fireworks show during a Pirate and Princess party a few years ago from Fantasyland in the middle of a downpour.

thats awesome! hopefully this will work out for all of us too

I'd worry more about the humidity. :sad2: It was awful!!! In Texas we were 108 many days this summer but it wasn't anything like Fl. Saturday was nice though. Less humid & a breeze.
