Total panic over PCR results - warning (and welcoming advice!)

We ordered a virtual PCR from OnPoint for our 2 year old. They actually use a Lucira brand test so that is who the does the testing and results.

Did it yesterday with no issues. Got the PDF, uploaded it. It was just rejected because his DOB isn't on it.

I gave the DOB when I registered him, and she confirmed DOB on the call, but it's not on the form. I call OnPoint, who says they can't do anything to help me. I called Lucira, who says they just got a new system and DOBs are no longer on the form. They can't do anything for me. Literally can't just slap a DOB on a form and resend it to me.

She is escalating the issue to the team that arrives to work on Monday at 8am. Our ship leaves Monday.

I tried to reach out to explain the situation, surely we aren't the only ones having this issue, but SafePassage is closed and Disney hangs up when you call.

I'm mostly frustrated that we wasted $100 on a test that is worth nothing because the DOB isn't on the form. But we really want to cruise so now I'm frantically trying to find a $$$$ PCR test on a Sunday for a 2 year old. I had everything lined up in advance so we wouldn't be in a panic :(

But I really want to go on the cruise :(

Warning: don't use Lucira tests (even purchased through OnPoint) because they no longer list a DOB on the form.

Oh my gosh! You must be frustrated out of your mind. That is insane to just drop DOB. I work in the medical field (xray) and every patient has to tell us their name and DOB for identity purposes. It's the first thing we ask when we get into the room. I can't believe any company even remotely involved in the medical field would simply drop that from their reports.

I'm sorry that you're going through all that. Were you able to find another PCR?
Not that you have time right now, but I'd be writing a strongly worded nastygram to that company after returning from your cruise. I really hope you can find a way to go!

Sending you pixie dust and happy wishes!!

Sorry to hear. Sounds like a goof-up by Lucira.

If they are recording their calls, you can have them look up yours and confirm that the DoB was provided. They should refund the cost if this is delayed past Monday.

In the meantime, where are you located? Disney will accept rapid NAAT tests too (not just PCRs). If there is a Walgreens nearby - and if there is availability - you should be able to get one done tomorrow (Sunday) relatively cheaply. Search in this link:

Great idea with the NAAT test at Walgreen's!! :thumbsup2
OP's signature mentions being a FL resident but it's big state.

OP, I'll be up for another half hour or so. I don't mind helping you search! We are flying in the am to Miami, also for Monday departure.

@Aimeedyan
If you're sailing out of Miami on Monday, (like us) there is a Walgreen's near the port offering a rapid NAAT test with results in 2 hours. Tomorrow there is more than 20 appointments between 10:15 am and 4:45pm.
200 SW 13th St.
Miami, FL
33130

I don't know if you're already near the port or plan to drive there tomorrow. If you have a long drive to the port, I would personally prefer to get the test done near home so that hopefully it's ready by the time you get to the port.

Good luck!!

@Aimeedyan
If you're sailing out of PC, there is a Walgreen's at
4150 N ATLANTIC AVE
Cocoa Beach, FL 32931

This location has 16 appts Sunday between 10:30am -4:45pm.

I do believe all test results have to be submitted before midnight, Sunday night.

HTH!!

I would definitely follow up with really strongly worded letters HOWEVER can you just test at the Port? Maybe if you show the negative test to DCL there and explain the problem they will accept it. I'm sure the staff is as tired of this whole testing thing as we are.

Thank you all for the encouragement and links! Unfortunately Walgreens is 3 and up but we found another company offering on site tests near the Tampa airport that we are going to try tomorrow. They don't list an age limit on their site so here's hoping!

I may try calling Disney first thing in the morning just to see if there is anything we can do before dropping now another $180 on testing that's already been done. Gah.

I escalated on the call with Lucira and they were sympathetic but seemed to have their hands tied. I plan to fight for my $ back if I have to fork out more due to their change in policy (or miss the cruise!). How in the world does a company who helps people travel remove a DOB from a medical document?!?

This is what I was thinking. They are still doing testing at the port but it will cost money. I thought, but not sure that under 5 year olds who are not vaxxed need to have a PCR test but not 100% sure since things are changing all the time. We had to get our 15 month granddaughter tested at the port in July but that was when DCL was picking up the cost of the port test. Since the recent testing changes you now pay for testing at the port.

I'm so sorry you are going through this for something so minor. And I agree if you have to pay for another test fight for your money back. Here's hoping for some pixie dust! :wizard:

Unvaccinated kids need to be tested once before arriving at the port and then a second time at the port. The port test is not sufficient.

You are right....I forgot about that....I keep getting confused with all the testing changes. Thought the pre, pre test was not needed anymore.

Thanks.

Search Curative. I have used them and their PCR tests are usually back within an hour. It should be free with your medical insurance. There are several timeslots available tomorrow in the Tampa Area

Sending good vibes. Hopefully it all works out.

We went with the company DCL recommended for our Wish cruise a few weeks ago because of all the horror stories we've heard about the competing testing companies.

Update: local spot was able to do it and we had the results back in an hour :cheer2:. It was $169 (plus the $95 we paid OnPoint...) but I intend to fight for the $95 back once we return.

His DOB is clearly on this form so I uploaded it immediately and it's still pending. I printed copies of both tests to bring to the port just in case but I think we're all-good now (fingers crossed!).

This whole testing circus is exhausting.

Honey, you absolutely deserve a relaxing cruise after all of this! Rushing around to repeat something you had already done, while you probably have 10 other things to get done before vacation, all while taking care of a baby too.
Have a wonderful cruise!
