ToT Question

OK - so there is only bars to hold on the end? I thought someone said before there are bars in between each of the seats. Sorry to be a pain.

I have sat in the 2nd or 3rd seat in (on each side) and have had the "oh *bleep*" bars right there. I didn't sit on the far end when I went last.

it's not much really to hold onto - but it's something.

You realize that tensing up and grabbing on to something for dear life only heightens that drop feeling? If you really want to reduce the droppies you should relax your body and exhale as you drop (i.e. scream your lungs off). God help the person in front of you though...he/she might be deaf for a while.

They won't go deaf. I'm one of those people who tries to scream but my hearts comes up through my throat and so I just open my mouth and nothing comes out.

Don't forget to have the first timer look for the "special message" from the tower. I'm not sure if you've seen it or heard about it. When in line, and you're at the two "regular" elevator doors, there's a menu board that lists the functions that were going on in the hotel. Well, a bunch of letters have fallen to the bottom of the menu board and give you a verys pecial message. you'll have to go right up to the glass of the menu board and look down. :earseek:

Yes, definitely look for that; it's a hoot!

Well, darned if I had known that about the penny trick. Okay, forget I said anything! And thanks for the information, everybody! Now when I fasten myself in, I'll just have to experience the ride without distractions! :earseek:

Can you PM me with this? I know I'm going to forget to look b/c I'm going to be too nervous about riding the ride.

Let me see if I can find the picture first. That'll be better to see.
Stinkerbelle, I'll let you know too. I guess I'm in a giving mood since I'm only 2 weeks away.

Okay, the penny trick is clearly a bad idea, but I remembered something that works equally well, distraction-wise. I wear a long chain with several pendants on it (my grandparents' wedding rings, a small medallion from my other grandmother, and a charm from my husband). Usually on ToT, I tuck it into my top, but I forgot once, and what happened is that as we plummeted down, the pendants rose to about nose level, and dropped as we slammed back up, etc. If you have a similar necklace, and if you have it secure enough that it wouldn't simply fly off your neck, that gives you something else to focus on, to take your mind off the fact that you're FREEFALLING FROM A THOUSAND FEET UP IN THE AIR.

Okay, again with it not technically being a thousand feet, but you take my meaning.

And technically you're not freefalling. You're actually falling faster than the force of gravity. Now, where's that evil grin smilie at? heh heh
