I have no idea what to think of DD4. On past rips she is frightened of the dark rides. She would hide her face iin Winnie the Pooh! But on our day trip last week, she wanted to ride Pooh 3 times, and even managed Pirates with just holding my hand. very, very brave.
That said, she is not scared of thrills. she's always loved the coasters she is big enough for, and on our trip to WDW last month, she loved (LOVED) Splash Mountain. She saw the TOT, and wanted to do it. I explained to her what it was, and now all she talks about Disneyland is next time she is going to ride on the elevator that falls out of the sky.
Should I just tell her it is broke, or let her try it once and see what happens? (unfortunately she figured out the tall enough thing!)

I would just walk her up to it and let her see the doors open a few times and hear the screams!! If that doesn't affect her and she still wants to go, then you go!! Most kids will change their mind right then and there if they are going to!!

Good luck!!

My daughter went on it at DLR and 8 months later at MGM studios. She was scared and would only do it once. Which is fine. I agree with the above. Walk her in and let her decide.

My son would do EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING thrilling until he was 7 or 8, then he was suddenly afraid of EVERYTHING.

I say if she is tall enough and wants to go, get a fastpass and then go. If she chickens out once in line, at least you didn't waste hours in a line on a ride she won't go on.

You might also try to find the movie - it is based on the ride with Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst. It would give her a complete feel for the story line. That said, DD did watch the movie last trip, wanted to ride (I was opposed), and by the time she got up to the line she freaked and left.

Well I'm 32 and I chickened out last week when I was buckling my seatbelt on the ride. I was already nervous about it...then I thought what the heck I need to do this. Well.......I guess I was all talk, I walked off while everyone on the ride called me all sorts of names. Eh whatever....my heart was seriously hurting and all I could think about was that if something were to happen to me my ex would be raising our son....blah that was frightening enough! :scared1: :scared1:
With that said..my 9 year old nephew loved it!
