Hi all,

Hopefully not too weird a question, I love Pirates and everything Pirate themed, and thinking of popping in here.

Only downside is I hate Mexican food and so does the wife and don't believe the little one will take to it too.

Was wanting to pop in, so would defo have a coke or whatever in just to take in the place.

Do they do Nachos on their own? I could probably do that, with maybe Salsa sauce at a stretch.

Did notice they had a 'triple choc cake' so guess our little one might take to that.

Also, do they have like Music in the tavern? Maybe music from the Film or such or pirate music in general?

TIA

I don't think you will find very much of a pirate theme. It's open, not enclosed, so you should be able to hear the music from the Pirates ride while sitting there. Also, the Tortuga Tavern is not always open. It tends to open only in the busier seasons, and then only at lunch.

I think the name of this Quick Service location has led you astray. It is not a Tavern in the traditional sense at all. It is a Counter Service location. It is totally open and seating is at outdoor tables. As PP said, you can hear the music from the walkway. There is no "in" to go.
Have a great trip

Yeah thanks for that, I wasn't overly concerned whether it was exactly 4 walled or anything and the pics I've saw are still fine.

Just wondering if they had it themed a little.

Tbh, it would only be a quick visit anyway, the intention is to go in the high season anyway, so I'm hoping I'll catch it open, even just for a coke.

I do remember something a bit similar at DLP.

We just had nachos here for a quick snack last week & there is little to no theming (I actually saw none but maybe I missed it). It's very tight & was very crowded when we were in there, people were wandering around with trays searching for tables. It has a very large open seating area that goes right into Pecos Bill's on the other side. There was no music inside & we did not hear any from POTC. It was fine for a quick bite to eat, but I think this place could be so much better if they just put a little more theming into it.

Seriously, is this place EVER open? lol The crowd calendar was a 9.6 the other weekend and the place was still closed. Since using my passes in March, Ive not seen the place opened once.

I've been to WDW 15 times in the last 10 years & last week was the FIRST TIME I've seen it open! And it was completely packed, so it's not a money pit for them to have it open, I just don't get it!

Thanks.

I read somewhere on-line about when it changed names and it seemed to have theming inside the premise, showed pictures of various things like pictures etc. Wonder if it's been removed? Strange!

I've never had the pleasure of trying it, in 30 plus trips, it's never been opened! Why is it seasonal if it's so crowded and better yet, what season is it actually open?

My DH and I are huge fans of POTC and love Tortuga Tavern's burritos, however there really isn't a lot of theming to the place. It is a basic QS, there is a smaller menu and is an open air style seating (There is a roof over the seating but the sides are open). I can't remember music in the restaurant being played but various sounds travel from across the way at the POTC ride. If you aren't keen on Mexican food I would suggest atleast walking through it to see if there is anything you would be interested in eating. As others have said, it is a seasonal place so I do not know if it will be open when your trip is. We always go in July and it is open then, it closes at 3pm though if I'm not mistaken. You can find the menu here: http://allears.net/menu/men_pir.htm

Here are a couple shots from our last trip.

We loved this sign :)

This was the view from our table looking over towards POTC.

Thanks Pooh, that's great.

If it's open we'll grab a coke even if I can't go the food.

:lmao: It was open when we were there in July but that was the first time I ever noticed the place. Nobody really liked the menu so we just ended up eating at Peco Bills.

We found it open in early October and ate there. It was pretty good, but not really special. The nachos were more than adequate.

I wondered the same thing. I go to WDW 4-5 times a year and have never caught either this place or the noodle place open.:confused3 I'm from Texas where there's some type of Mexican food place on every corner (fast food places, Tex Mex, and authentic mom/pop type places), so love any type of Mexican food, (just can't find any decent down there.:rotfl:)

have never caught either this place or the noodle place open.

the "noodle place" is gone. It is now called Tomorrowland Terrace Cafe and doesn't serve noodles. It's still not open all the time.

We ate there in March, Sept, Oct and Nov. This year. They are open more than you think because they are only open until 3pm. I like the taco salad. The toppings are better at Pecos Bills but is always way busier.
