Doesn’t look like there is much in the way of excursions for Tortola. For those of you who have been there since the storm, can you tell me if there is much shopping right off the port or a certain area of the island that we can take a taxi to that has good shopping.

We were there on the Nov 3 sailing and the island tour and beach break excursion was horrible. Disney has no business being back there yet. I know it sounds harsh and not very compassionate to the island, but you pay a lot for a Disney cruise. Our entire day was wasted and very uncomfortable.

Shopping is right at port. You can take a taxi, but traffic is horrible.

The tour guide was rude and the vehicle was not in great condition. You could t hear any of his narration. The beach that we went to was still in shambles and there was a dirty puddle of overflow water that was gross. The beach had tons of glass and garbage. Everything was shady about this beach. The stop at the top of the island was not ready and there was no shopping like it said. There was one bathroom and tons of tourists. Both places were supposed to give a drink, but the containers they were serving from were gross.

People who did the baths had a better experience. They did say it was hard for little kids and older people.

In hind sight, we should’ve stayed on the boat.

There is a small shopping district right off the port. Pretty standard shopping experience. My guess is the area will continue to improve with time.

We're going there in Jan and have a beach excursion booked. We aren't doing an island tour though. Do you remember the name of the beach you went to on your tour? Thanks. We had a similar experience last March in San Juan, paid over $100 pp for a beach excursion that included lunch. The beach resort they took us to wasn't damaged from the hurricane, but it was very old and dirty. The workers weren't very friendly either. I was very disappointed to pay so much for it, it wasn't worth half of what we paid.

We were on the Nov 3rd sailing as well and did the Jost van Dyke beach break and it was lovely. The company that ran the excursion had very friendly employees, and there were reserved seats on the beach. There was a small shop by the beach that we did shop at but it was pretty limited (but enough for us). I would do this excursion again if we ever return to Tortola. The shopping at the port is pretty limited, St. Thomas had much more shopping available without having to take a cab.

We were in Tortola Nov 20th, Fantasy Eastern excursion.

The island is still recovering. If you expect the island to be a nice spot like Grand Cayman it isn't there. Still a lot of blown off roofs, construction happening, etc.

We took a local taxi to Cane Garden Bay. The beach, pristine. The current, mild. Temperature, excellent (mid 80's). Restrooms adequate for using and changing.

Taxi both ways for 4 of us, $64. Umbrella and 2 beach chairs, $20. $20 for sodas, chips and tips.

Water = priceless, small crowd = priceless, chair right on the water = priceless. Excellent day well worth it. Looking forward to returning in 2019.

Shopping, right off the dock there are a couple of little stores that sold trinkets. We got a postcard and Xmas ornament.

Overall, if you are looking for a little cutesy island, Tortola is it.

We were there the end of September and took the ferry on our own over to the Baths. We loved it! The big Disney group that came later looked like a miserable experience.

Do you think we could do it with a 3 year old?

We were there Nov 20 with the Fantasy Eastern too. Walked a little outside the port and buildings were still in bad shape. The excursion we had booked was the Treasure Island Snorkel. Nice catamaran ride to a snorkeling site (most of my party didn't snorkel), then to a nice beach. We enjoyed the excursion.
