Tortola?

Can someone who has taken either the Day at the Baths or Tour of Virgin Gorda let us know if the only difference is truly the lunch?

I initially signed up for the one that includes the lunch. I just changed it to the TT23 which does not include lunch and is $60 cheaper/pp. I sail Monday, Jan 4th.
Does anyone have any additional information?

I'd be catching a ferry/water taxi to Jost Van Dyke, spending the night at Foxy's (thereby missing the boat) and then catching a water taxi to St. Thomas the next day to get back on the boat. This is what we were considering doing if we had kept our Tortola/St. Thomas itinerary we were originally scheduled on.

hoping those early 2016 cruisers who do TT23/ Tour to Virgin Gorda report back! We have it booked for the repo cruise to Miami in February.

I was on the fantasy dec 19-26, we did the tour of virgin gorda (no lunch). The baths were awesome. There is a small place to grab something to eat & drink. I'm not sure if the tour that includes lunch is at the place on the beach. I brought some prepacked snacks off the ship with us & water.

Can you tell me how difficult the excursion is? We would like my in-laws to tag along, but they are in their seventies, one with a bad knee. She gets around fine, and leads an active life, but I don't want to risk an injury mid-cruise.

Thanks!

If anyone is interested in joining us on January 19, 2016 please send me a private message.[/QUOTE]
I am unable to Private Message- did you finalize your charter?

I hear varying reports about how tight the spaces are in the caves, how much physical exertion it is to get to the beach, and that there is another trail that allows you to get to the beach and not take the caves --- can you add any clarity? Thanks!

Supposedly you cant take snacks or lunch off the boast but we have before. Something to do with customs.

I am curious on this as well as I have a 73 year old and a 2 year old. If this is not an option, anyone recommend an accessible beach?

You cannot take fruits, veggies or meat off the ship. I had some prepackaged cookies that I brought on the ship from home and had no problem bringing them off. Several times before leaving for the excursion the fruit/veggie/meat thing was mentioned. And you cannot bring these back on the ship with you if you bought ashore. I purchased the water package so I had several bottles of sealed water.

Honestly, unless the 73 year old is in really good shape and the 2 year old can climb, I would not do this excursion with them. The only way down to the Baths is a rough dirt & rock path with nothing to hold onto. Some of the rocks are big and can be used like stairs but if they get wet they get slippery. As with amy type of stairs, going down is easier than going up. Once on the Beach you can swim or explore the nooks and crannies. There is a very challenging way to get to Devil's Bay and again I would not recommend to anyone unless you are athletic.

Unless they are very active and the knee isn't an issue I wouldn't have them do this excursion. It is a really beautiful place but challenging getting the the beach. I wish I wore sneakers and not flip-flops. There is only trees to hold on to and the rocks can be slippery.

Thanks! We will consider other options for our crew.

I agree looks like the Baths are out for me this time. The 2 yeear old might actually be able to make it but my mom, no way.

According to the BVI Tourist site here are the beaches on Tortola:

From the brief description Smuggler's Cove is a journey, any recommendations for beach that is easy to get to on our own via a cab?
