Tornado Season/Severe Weather:Does the Weatherperson Over React?

It seems to happen every year where I am,the weatherpeople over react over some storms.Does it happen where you are?

I don't think so... we've had some pretty bad storms here this year and they seemed to be right on target for how they talk about them. Then again I don't listen to the news all that much during storms so I could be wrong.

Sometimes our weather people are over cautious, but I'd rather them be over cautious than not cautious enough.

We have had some tornados here over the last 15 years that have been fatal, sometimes several killed I would prefer over caution and over warning then what I have seen happen with no warnings.

I'd prefer them to be over cautious than not. I like to know where the storms are going and if I am in their path.

As the daughter of a Meteorologist whose position was severe weather for many years, no I do not think they over react.

Who would get blamed if something did happen in a storm and the proper warnings were not given out?

The new radar etc makes it more accurate, the only times there have been warnings here they have been legitimate. If you want to know what a tornado can do find some after pictures of Jerrell, TX - there was nothing left after that one hit. All the warnings weren't any help for most of the people there but usually they do save lives.

I've had a couple of tornadoes hit close to where I live in the last 5 years or so (the closest one was about 2 miles from here). I don't think the forecasters here talk about the possibility enough.

But when they expect 1 tiny snowflake to fall, that's all they talk about.
