I am going to a pontiac dealership where the cars are $13,000 off orginal price. What is a good pontiac to look at? I was thinking of an Aztec or Sunfire. Anything wrong with these?? I hope they are not too badly damaged. But hey its alot of money off for someone who has acar that dies every block. And I promise to change the oil.

I had a sunfire and really liked it. It was a nice, albeit small car.

As long as the damage to the car is not severe I say go for it. But just keep in mind that often what the dealer tries to pass off as nothing more than visual damage, dents, bumps can mean the car was internally damaged as well.

Have it checked out by an independent mechanic who does not work for the dealer and get a guarantee.

Good luck!

We love our Pontiac Bonneville, but that is a mid size car..but very very comfortable for travelling.

No idea on the Pontiac part of this as I have only owned Hondas, but I wanted to say good luck with the sale. I would be wary though, and if you see major dents (more than dimples from hail damage) I would worry that something more is wrong with the car. I know once a car is in an accidnet it never runs the same. I did buy my last car with a hail damage sale and I wasn't worried since I knew it was no more than ice hitting the car. I have some dimples on the side of my car, but it sure was worth the $6500 off!!! With 13K off, I'd be worried there is more damage than what I have.

I would also like to suggest having an independent (not associated with the dealership) auto-body technician look at the frame for possible problems. If the car was thrown by a major storm it could have been twisted.

See my sig for my choice in Pontiacs. :teeth:
We test drove a Sunfire years ago. I liked it a lot, but my neon has more interior room. I also like the Grand Am.

Wow! Never heard of a Tornado Sale! Pretty interesting marketing!

Anyway, we have a 1994 Pontiac Grand Am which my DH just uses for work & it has nearly 100,000 miles on it & we've only had 1 repair done on it since. Some wire came loose under the dash & caused the car lights to start flickering. That's it. So we've been happy with it.

Just a heads up, tornadoes kill electrical objects...its like pure static electricity.. a small em pulse. Nothing works right that has lots of electrical and has survived physicly through a tornado.

DisneyVK

Survivor of May 3rd 1999. Oklahomas largest single day outbreak of tornadoes. Highest winds ever recorded in a tornado at the time and i think that still stands. Yes it was an F-5.

I have an '04 Grand Prix and LOVE IT! It is so fun, and I've not had any problems, knock on wood.

I have also had an '01 Grand Am GT and a '97 Grand Am GT. I have never had any problems with them.

The only thing with the Sunfire is that the safety rating isn't as high. I haven't checked them out lately, though, so maybe they've raised this.

Good luck! Definitely have it checked out before making it a final sale.

if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. :D

I'd do some research on Edmunds before buying a car. A low price on a bad car isn't a bargain. Make sure you know what the price ought to be before beginning to negotiate.
