TORN! Need advice about choices!

I'm a little torn. We are on the free DDP and are attending HDDR one night (dropping this is not an option). I am torn between using the DDP for this meal and paying OOP one of our other meals (50's PT), or paying for HDDR OOP and adding another meal (lunch at Chefs de France or Le Cellier pending availability) on a different day, so that one day we will use 2 TS credits.

My other dilemma is to keep 50s Prime Time (haven't been in 10 years - we thought it was just OK, but thought we might give it another try) or swap it out for Kouzzina. If we do 50's, I'd be inclined to use that as our OOP meal, if we switch to Kouzzina, we'd be more likely to use DDP and add a lunch. Reviews of Kouzzina seem to be improving lately, and as much as I try, I just can't get too excited about fried chicken or pot roast from 50's.

Is my question confusing? Maybe it is, because I am confused! Please, DIS dining experts, your advice is much appreciated!

The rule of thumb that I always use: pay OOP for the cheapest meal. When in doubt, check the menus on this site or allears for prices of the various restaurants (if ala carte, select a representative meal for your family).

As to your choice of 50s PT vs Kouzzina- can't help you there. You know your families food preferences better than anyone here.

If you end up wanting to pay for 50's OOP, can you switch it to a lunch ADR instead of a dinner ADR? It would cost less and maybe the offerings would be more to your liking not to mention give you a nice mid-day break? My girlfriend usually gets one of the sandwiches and I really like their chicken pot pie (both of which are only on the lunch menu). Then we usually split a s'mores and shake for dessert. In any case I would not drop 50's for Kouzzina. I've been to 50's on just about every one of my trips (including those with my JHS and summer camp) and Kouzzina just didn't impress us in the least.

As for which way to go, paying for HDDR OOP or with TS credits, that is a tough one. While on the basic dining plan HDDR is the only meal I could justify using 2 TS credits on. I think it comes down more to if you would want to add the extra meal or not. If your looking at your meal plan and feel that a lunch would really work well somewhere, maybe that is your answer. If your looking and you don't feel like a lunch makes much sence anywhere, then maybe that is your answer.

We need 8 lunches but only have 7 CS credits. I never thought of it this way, but we will have to pay for one TS dinner and one CS lunch OOP unless we pay oop for HDDR. Then we'd get an extra TS lunch and not have to pay OOP for lunch on our last day...hmmmmm.

I'm trying to get into 50's PT. I'm not concerned about the small price difference between lunch and dinner, but I guess I should look at the menus and see if anything appeals more on the lunch menu. I just think, knowing my family, we might enjoy the food at Kouzzina more. But then would we be missing out on a really fun experience? Still torn.

Maybe you could split a CS here and there to stretch your CS/lunch credits?

My thoughts are similar to one of the previous poster. You can pay out of pocket for the cheapest meal or figure out if it will be cheaper to just pay the HDDR out of pocket and have 2 other table service dinners in place of using up those credits.

To me I am not ooposed to paying oop for a meal or 2 through out our trip, especially if we have free dining. IT is nice to be able to do something special like HDDR or SOA. It is also nice that your adult drinks are includied in both of those dinner shows.

As Far as Kouzzina's goes. We really enjoyed our meal there. Be aware that mostly everything has a spicy flare to it. We had a couple of die hard heartburn sufferers with us and it nearly did them in. Have fun and enjoy your dinners!!
