TorFX & Crown currency

Only cash TC and a debit card for us for us. And will be getting a small amout each month.I dont think the rate is too bad at the moment. Found using TC worked great for us no problems or issues.I know a lot of people dont like TC but I think they are safe .Each to there own I suppose.

I still like them too. I just keep them in the safe and take out what I want to carry on me for the day, buy something with say a $100TC and then have the cash on me anyhow.

And no, just because the rate is falling doesn't mean it's bad - I agree with you. Last Easter we were all willing it to hit 1.40 and there was a rush to buy then.

I lost money with CCE and for me wether a report suggest that the company is bonafide or not - the knowledge it is run by the same family is enough for me to stay clear!!!

I have 2 fairfxs cards which we do load a small amount onto every week!!

For me I see that everything is a risk !! Cash can be lost or stolen and TC get increasingly harder to cash !

I shall have some spends on the fairfx cards some cash and a debit card for back up.

Just a thought.....

Be sure your household insurance covers you in the event that you are burgled and your foreign currency is stolen. I am not sure that mine covers me for much more than a negligible amount.

I am in the "don't put all of your eggs in one basket" crew ;)

In the past we have transfered our momey at which ever local currency exchange was offering us the best rate and taken the maximum allowed cash into the US with us. On that occassion we split it between about 4 of us just in case one of us lost the hand luggage.
I'm not saying this is a good thing to do though - we were paranoid all the way there and constantly checking the bags. We realised a little too late that this probably wasn't a good idea and opted to pay the fee at the ATMs ever since :lmao:

We've always taken loads of cash with us as well, think we'll probably get a citibank dollar account this year as it's a four week holiday and that would be lot of cash, probably look like drug dealers!

That's not a good look to be sporting if you want to sail through security with minimal problems .... :lmao:

We're fans of the FairFx card too, we've all got one and we load about half our money onto it, and take cash and backup credit cards too. We never use them in the shops, just withdraw cash from ATMs (yes we do get charged for it, but it's only a couple of dollars each time)

My girls have also got the FairFx Euro cards, which they are using right now at Disneyland Paris (lucky beggars !!) :)

We've recently opened a Citibank US dollar account for our US trips. We'll just transfer money into it from our UK bank and use the card for cash withdrawals at ATMs (I believe the ones at Publix & 7/11 are fee free) and debit card purchases.
