Everytime I go to Disney World I entertain thoughts about how nice it would be to live down there, and work at Disney.
Then I go to visit my family about an hour south of Disney for a week or so, and am antsy to leave by the end of the week. I just find it to be such a very different mind set down there, and it's not quite "me." I don't know if that makes much sense. That being said, I find it to be less true now that my family is in central Florida, than when they lived near Miami. I don't think I'd ever be happy living in southern Florida, but central Florida would be a possiblity.
My top reasons for not moving to Florida would be:
1) Autumn, spring, and the change of seasons. Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the changing leaves, and the nip in the air. Spring too, when all the leaves start to bloom.
2) No possibility of a white Christmas. It happens seldomly, but still I like having that chance. I at least want it to feel cold for Christmas. My family in Florida still says this is what they miss most.
3) Can't run to NYC for the day. If there is anyplace I love as much as Disney, it's NYC. I love to just hop on the train, and spend the day wandering around Central Park, visiting the museums, or seeing a show. A year ago, I finally got a job working in the city, and adore it even more. I'd miss it far too much.
4) Yankee baseball. I'm a huge fan with a partial season ticket plan. I can't imagine only being able to watch them on tv or for spring training.
Ultimately what I'd love to do some day is live up here in CT April - December, and then spend the worst of the winter months in Florida. I just need to find the job that will let me do that.
