Top Ten Reasons I won't Move to Orlando

I agree with Kevin, I don't think I would ever be happy anywhere else other than FL!! I love that you can wear flip flops year round and never have to worry about a winter wardrobe.

Yes, it is 90 degrees in May but it has been wonderful from Oct-April so we can't complain!

And... I'm in Miami where we are always 5-10 degrees warmer than Orlando and I still would not move. Ok, maybe to Tampa but that's as far as I go.

Yep, I gotta say I love my flip flops, and have a huge collection ! We normally leave the shorts and t shirts in the dressers year round and only have one drawer or warm clothes! I think we may have turned our heat on 4-5 times this winter.

I live in a small town, we get pizza every Friday from the shop on main street, we have the cutest all-American parades for Halloween and Christmas, and we have tons of great historical houses and buildings! It's slow here but we also are 45 min from Tampa, Orlando, and an hour from the west coast! Can't beat having the best of both worlds :thumbsup2

Oh yea, and you also can't beat heading to EPCOT on a whim for Illuminations!

I have to exist in Virgina for now and I'll make the best of it, after all it is a beautiful state that is also full of history but as soon as the opportunity arises, I'm Florida bound!

Everything the O.P. stated as reasons not to move to Florida are the very reasons I want to go! Of course if everyone felt this way, there would be no where left in Florida to move to.

I can't wait until the day comes that I'm in Florida and NOT a touist:)
I moved from Virginia too...got tired of paying all the taxes!

I think I could live in Florida, or Orlando. The last time was great, good people, good food, loved the weather. The only drawback was wildfire season. I just DONT want to work for Disney again. It really was too much of a buzz kill. I dreamed and dreamed of working there since I was little. And when I did it was a reality, which I admit, I wasn't prepared for.

I would love to be within a distance to visit FREQUENTLY, just don't want to punch the clock for the Mouse.

And Kevin, seriously, do you need to make me pea green with envy all the time??? ;)

10. Too Freaking Hot and Humid Let's talk in February
9. No Seasons But the beach is an hour away...east or west
8. It's the Beginning of May and its 90 degrees out. But on January 1st it was 70 degrees
7. Love Bugs Yeah ..well...no place is perfect.
6. Hurricanes Snowstorms
5. No leaves changing colors They do actually. It's MUCH more subtle

3. Huge bugs that fly Got those everywhere. Junebugs anyone?
2. Lizards (they are cute when I'm on vacation, but not when they would get in my house) They eat the other bugs and are harmless.
1.No chance of a White Christmas. I'll have to think about that when I sit in the audience for the Christmas Eve Candlelight Processional after dinner in Epcot wearing shorts....or walk through Celebration watching the carolers.....or sit in the lobby of the GF having gingerbread.

right there with ya!!!!! Orlando I'll be there sooner or later

8. It's the beginning of May here in Ohio and it's 45 degrees right now

3. NO ICY ROADS
2. DISNEY WORLD

I can't argue the freaking heat humidity thing though, it's the # 1 thing keeping
me from actually and really moving to Orlando. The lilac thing is another issue.
I LOVE my two huge lilac bushes, but eh, they only last a few weeks anyway,
I'd get over it for the palm trees.

The man is right and I'm not gonna argue. I'll take a few months of heat & humidity over about 5 months of snow, cold, wind and rain. Chicago bites!

May 9th and it's only 50 degrees here today. I was in Savannah GA last weekend and it was Heaven On Earth at 80+ degrees and SUN!! Jasmine blooming EVERYWHERE, Magnolias blossoming on the trees, honestly. If you want Lilac, Yankee has a great scented candle!!

:rotfl:

:rotfl:

I would move there tomorrow if I could afford it. Maybe when I win the lottery and can afford to work at Disney and afford a nice house down there :lmao:

I have always wanted to live in Florida, it does not have to be Orlando but close that is for sure. We have actually been tossing the idea back and forth and we may move there in a couple of years.

I could care less if I never see another snow flake in my life, and we dont get that much here. If I want winter, then I can visit a ski resort :rotfl:

Amen!

I love the snow we get here. You can walk through it at MK, Osborne Lights, Celebration. I don't have to shovel it, drive through it, worry about my kids driving in the snow. I can also wear shorts while it is snowing. :) :)

Sooooooooooooo true. Except, in my case, Cleveland bites! I'm still having flashbacks on having to sleep at work because of our Feburary 2008 blizzard and it was doubly sucky because I had just got back from 85 and gorgeous in Orlando the week before!

As for the lilacs...Yankees are great, but have you tried Bath & Bodyworks Scent Port diffusers? They have an AWESOME lilac one.

Even on the cold days (you know, 45-50 degrees or so... :) ) I wear my flip flops. My aunt who lived in the Bronx until 10 years ago HATES my sweater and flip flops look but I love it!!

I live in the Chicagoland area. We have extream heat and humidity in Aug. and extream cold and windchills in Jan/Feb. But I still love to "visit" Orlando.
I'm in my 40s and many of my family have moved down that way.

That leads to another prob, they now expect me to take time away from Disney to visit them. The nerv...:rotfl:

No lilacs!?!?!??!?! maybe I'll move to jacksonville instead.

I only need 1 reason FOR moving to Orlando:

And then we got another 4 inches of snow that evening!!!

You don't have to shovel humidity!!!

Here is my reason for not moving out of Florida -

Here are a few more-
1. never having to scrape an inch of ice off my windshield
2. not having to wait until end of may to put our gloves away
3. no income taxes (NYS sucks!)
4. low property taxes- (at least north of orlando where we are looking)
5. So you have to stay in air conditioning in summer- beats staying in during the winter and looking out to snow, ice, clouds.
6. having only one wardrobe you do not have to rotate.
7. no spring yard cleanup :woohoo:
8. leaving our pool open all year- no closing and opening!
9. ooh- having the pool be warmer than 80 deg in the middle of July!

I could go on and on! But I guess that is why we plan to move there, as is our closest friend. We are on the 5 year plan, need to get our middle schoolers graduated here then we are out of here!
And I can tell you the thought of 5 more winters nauseates me!!

Why I like it up here...

I also would rather curl up in front of fire to warm up than strip down and crank up the air to cool down. The air is soo much cleaner and the water so much better up here...IMHO.
