Top Secret Pixie Dust! A Surprise 13th Birthday PTR! NEW! TRIP REPORT LINK PAGE 220!

Hey CP! I am happy to say I am CAUGHT UP! I was...oh...over 30 pages behind! :goodvibes

I am very sorry to hear about the ordeal with Charles' coaching - COMPLETELY unfair to do that 2 weeks before the end of the season. :sad2:  However, it does sound like you have found a lovely vacation despite it all! We have discussed doing HH as well, it looks just beautiful and amazing, I can't wait to read all about it!!! :yay:

Camo
special delivey is scheduled for Sat
Dory out

Do I have to be here to get it? We're going to Margot's party and then to the mall. I hope they can leave it, or if not, I will get it from the P.O. Monday.

CP, preparations are being made for Bo. It's a team effort now.
We're going to make a sign, so tell us what you want it to say. :)

Do I have to be here to get it? We're going to Margot's party and then to the mall? I hope they can leave it, or if not, I will get it from the P.O. Monday.

I don't believe so. The package is small enough that it should fit in your mailbox. I did not put anything needing a signature on it- no insurance on something of no real value. I can track it from here so I will see if I can keep up with it. no hurry, plenty of time.
Enjoy the party!

Awesome picture of you with Mickey (minus the strange boy)! :goodvibes You look exactly the same!!! :thumbsup2 Okay - maybe a tiny bit smaller, but the face is totally Jackie. ;)

Jackie are you going to show us your goodies from Wigd?? I would LOVE to see it all!! Aren't Dis friends the best?? I am always talking about you all at work (of course all my co workers think I am CRAZY) :lmao:

Have a great weekend. My 17 yr old son has 3 soccer games today:scared1: One indoor game & one outdoor game & then another outdoor game tomorrow. And it is cold & rainy here in NH this weekend!!

Oh CP.....I am at work yet again today and I can't see your picture. Why do I toture myself by trying to read TR's at work. Oh wait....I know....its because I don't have time at home! :rotfl:

I am so happy that you were able to find that special Disneyland picture!

Sadly, right now, you just look like a little red x to me. :upsidedow
When I get home, I shall set my bag down and go straight to my laptop to see what you and your little buddy really look(ed) like. :)

I wish I had pictures from my 1971 Disney World trip. I just know I was stylin', since I was about 14 years old. ::yes:: I'd love to make comparisons from WDW of old to what's there now. I remember us having ticket booklets, and we could only choose so many rides.

Oh, yes, looking back at the pictures of me in the 1970's had my kids in stitches. Bright colors were definitely in.

I don't really remember the old ticket books, but then, I guess my mom would have been in charge of them and deciding what we would ride.

Very cool that you found your Mickey picture! You were in love :lovestruc from an early age.

Yes, my love affair with Disney started at birth, I suspect.

I LOVE that picture and all that old Disney memorabilia!!!! There is just something unique and wonderful about Disney stuff from the late 70s early 80s that always makes me smile.....I know it is because that is the type of stuff I remember from my early trips. My grandmother accompanied us once on an early trip down there before my lil' sis was even born, and she had silhouettes done of both my brother and I.....seeing yours reminded me so much of theirs! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, Jen! I do love vintage Disney stuff --especially the stuff from my childhood -- although, I am so young, it couldn't really be considered vintage, right? :lmao:

Oh my gosh, Jackie! How stinkin' cute were you?! Even the strange little boy who crashed your Mickey time was pretty cute.

Love the old memorabilia too, that stuff is so cool.

Thanks, Michelle! I think it is so funny that we all match even though none of it was planned obviously. LOL!

:rotfl: i got such a kick out of this! i bet you were so mad. in all our pictures from trips as a kid, there are usually other kids in the pictures with us and the characters. i'm so glad they have a more controlled system now where you can actually get a picture without strangers in it!

oh, and you were SO adorable! what a precious picture!

Thanks, Dawn! I am glad it is more controlled now -- can you imagine the free for all if it weren't??? It would make fighting for a parade spot pale in comparison!

 wish they'd run a "vintage" pricing special one day! ray has shown me tickets from the '70's and '80's where you paid a price and had to choose which attractions you wanted. the ticket only allowed you access to certain things, not the entire park. when we went in 2007 ray hadn't been since he was about 15 (which would've been 1986) and whenever we'd see a commercial for anything at disney he'd go, "so are we gonna get to do that???" and every time i'd answer, "yes, ray, we get to do EVERYTHING in each park.....we don't have to pick and choose attractions!" he was just baffled by that. i don't think he believed me until we got there.

thanks for sharing your vintage disney pics with us. i love seeing stuff like that!

That's too funny about Ray! Another thing I am thankful Disney has changed! Can you imagine the itineraries we would have to come up with, if we had to use tickets for the rides! Mind boggling, I tell you!

not sure yet...only be there for 3 days w/ arriving way early on Friday (tentative plan s drive through Thursday night) and then leaving for home on Monday...it will be a quickie...My Aunt and Uncle's housing complex has a pool so that should be a must :thumbsup2

I'll let you know our details when we hash it out.

If you need any suggestions on things to do, let me know!

LOVE the picture... you shpuld post this somewhere on line and say "who are you strange duck sweater boy?" :rotfl:

great memories...my first trip to WDW was in 85 and I don't think we posed w/ any characters and my first (and only) trip to DL was in 1988 or 89...but that was when Star Tours premiered...My parents took my older sister to WDW when she was 4.

I do wonder what Duck Boy is up to these days and if he even remembers that trip to Disneyland.

Oh, that stuff is precious! Such a cute picture! I had my girls' sillouettes done on their first trip to WDW and framed them. They gave us two because of the way they cut it out. So I will save them for the girls.

I wonder if my mom has any pictures of my first trip to DL. I was 2. No memory of it whatsoever. I'll have to ask her if I got to meet Mickey.

Thanks, Sheree! I have had Chelsea and Connor's silhouettes done -- such a great keepsake.

My first trip was when I was nine months old -- I don't know if there are any pictures of that or not.

Love the picture!!! Is it just me....or does Mickey look really short??? He must have grown a few inches since then!!!

I hadn't noticed Mickey's height before, but you are right! Too funny!

Jackie you were so cute with Mickey and the duck boy. I love old pictures. I love how styles have changed just to come back the same.

Cleaning out a the storage under by coffee table yesterday I found a old reservation slip for the Horseshoe saloon. I miss that show, plus it was always a nice place for a quick lunch if you were able to see the show around lunchtime.

Thanks! I do love seeing the fashions of my childhood again! Maybe...

I don't remember doing the Horseshoe Saloon -- was it in Frontierland?

That is the most precious picture EVER! How sweet. Except for the random Duck Sweater dude. :lmao:

Thanks, LL! Duck Boy doesn't even seem to be paying attention to anyone. LOL!

What a cutie you were! Heck, you still are!

It's funny that you have the duck sweater mystery boy in there, you should send it into ellen or Oprah and have them find the boy so you can have a reunion.

Awww, thanks, Cherie!

Whatever would I say to Duck Boy? "Thanks for hopping into my moment with Mickey"?

You and duck boy are so cute!  Love all the vintage DL stuff! :goodvibes

Thanks! :lmao:

Jackie, I have my very own "duck boy" picture too, though my "duck boy" is about 40 and has a big beer belly! He wasn't so kind as to wear a matching outfit. :rotfl:

Tink, I about fell off my chair laughing when I read this. Now, I am very thankful my Duck Boy looked the way he did! :lmao:

It's really amazing to consider how relatively "new" the handlers are. My last trip with my grandparents to the World was 1993 and the handlers probably introduced shortly thereafter. Now it's like they're an institution.

An institution I am very happy to have around -- I wouldn't want to fight to get near Mickey with crowds the way they are these days.

What an adorable photo of you and Mickey!
Is there a way to airbrush the duck kid out of the picture?

Thanks, Jen! Sadly, I am not that talented with Photoshop. :sad2: Oh, well -- it makes for a good story nowadays though.

How cute a little Jackie was! :)

When I first saw the picture, I thought it was you and a little brother---How funny that it is a complete stranger! :rotfl: At least he coordinated with you.

Thanks! What are the chances we would have both been wearing red?

He does look extremely short. Or maybe it's that Jackie was so tall! ;)
We all know what a giant she has turned out to be.

The picture is great Jackie. Duck Boy may be on another forum talking about how you got into his picture!

Wouldn't that be funny if Duck Boy was doing that?

Yes, I tower over all my 6th graders...before they hit their growth spurt the second part of the year. :rolleyes1

Love the trip down memory lane! Look at that sassy little smile on you. I see where Chelsea gets it from. ;) Amazing memorabilia! I can't believe your Mom saved that stuff, and in such wonderful condition.

Thanks, TK. Funny to think that beneath that sassy smile I was absolutely seething...

My mom saves everything from trips -- she probably has lots more where that came from...

Yes, you were a darling little girl Jackie! Honestly if you hadn't told us we would have thought duck boy was a relative or traveling companion....:goodvibes
Now we have the evidence that you come by your Disney obsession honestly!
The memorabilia is the coolest!

Thanks, Wigd! Oh, yes, my mother definitely was the one that instilled by Disney love in me!

I asked my mom today if she had any pictures of me at DL - she said NO! I'm not sure I believe her! I may have to go dig through her old albums next time I'm over there and see for myself! I'm not that old that they wouldn't have had a camera!

:lmao: Yes, I do think you need to dig through the albums. I bet your mom has just forgotten. There's another picture of me on the carousel that I may have to "borrow," and I know there were other trips that we didn't find the pictures for yet.

Love the picture!

At least the duck boy had the good taste to match you! I'm sure you could photoshop him out if you scanned that photo into your computer. Then you could have with and without duck boy pics!

Thanks, Stace! Thirty years later, I don't mind Duck Boy in my picture because the most memorable part of meeting Mickey was this little boy who jumped into the picture.

What an adorable picture! You never know, duck sweater boy could be a DIS'er!

Thanks, C! That would be too funny if Duck Boy was a DISer!

VERY cute!!! Love it. I know I have one of those cutout images somewhere of me, too... I was 7 I think... it is at my Grandmother's house. We had them done of our boys when they were 3yrs and 6 mos! I have to get an update!!

CUTE pic, and I agree, Mickey looks short!

Thanks, Happydog! Mickey does look a little shorter there than he does now.

I love silhouettes -- I think because of those ones my mother always had done at Disneyland and WDW. You should do the boys again this summer -- it always amazes me how quickly they are done -- the cutters are so speedy and talented.

Love all the vintage Disneyland stuff!:thumbsup2 I can't believe that kid just jumped in your picture! I wonder if he loves Disney as much as you do today? :confused3

Just imagine how many trips we'd all be able to go on if tickets were still $8?! :rotfl:

Thanks, Kristen. My guess is he had a pushy mom propelling him towards Mickey. He doesn't seem all that excited to be standing next to the Main Mouse. :lmao:

I could even afford an annual pass at those prices! ;)

Aww Jackie that is such a cute picture!! :goodvibes All of my younger day pictures have random people in them too!
Love the old tickets too....I bought a pack of tickets on eBay from the first year I went :)

Tracy

Thanks, Tracy! What a neat idea to buy tickets on eBay from the first year you went. I need to go see if they have any from 1975!

It's so great that your mom had that picture for you!:thumbsup2 The WDW pictures my mother gave me don't include any of our family members! :headache: They were all just pictures of WDW attractions. I hope she finds them for me one of these days.

Thanks, Amy! I think there must be more pictures from other trips. We need to go through some of the other albums.

Awesome Disney memorabilia!:goodvibes

Thank you! :goodvibes

:rotfl2: I was totally joking around when I posted that about the strange boy being in your picture- wonder if he was related to the strange boy in my disney pic! How funny !

what a cute picture- you look so sweet! I love the vintage Disney stuff- too cool! I will say hello to your giraffes for ya!

I got such a kick out of the story you posted on your PTR about the strange boy in your picture! Such a coincidence! :lmao:

Awww, cute picture! :lovestruc And how rude of that little boy to jump right into your picture! :rotfl: But you're right, at least he matched! :lmao:

He matched and now I can laugh about it! :lmao:

I don't think anyone has commented on this, but I love your stance in that picture! I am not sure I would have recognized you at all. You look very different from now - still, just as cute!

Thanks, Susan! Yes, I have changed a lot in the last thirty years. LOL!

I love how everyone has given him the nickname Duck Boy. I agree, it would be so cool if you could find him. However, I don't know any grown men who would now admit to having worn the duck sweater.

What fun pics! Thanks for sharing!

:rotfl: Too true! He would probably deny with his last breath that he ever wore a duck sweater in 1979. LOL!

I think I see Walt in the background sporting a murse! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2:

If only I could convince Charles to wear one at WDW!

Jackie! What a cute pic! We brought our oldest DS to DL in 1984 - Mickey looked just like that then and again in 1986. I wonder when he changed?:confused3 I think our tickets were $30 for the day in 1986, and kids were $10.

Thank you! I have my ticket from 1986 in my stuff -- I should look at the price and see how it compares. Remember when the multi-day tickets never expired?

I wanted to tell you I was dreaming about Connor yesterday morning! We were all at an old church, and getting some kind of program ready, and Connor took me "backstage" where he had a little cubby hole set up with tons of boy scout pins and sashes and Disney pins stuck to the wall. That's it - random huh? :lmao:

:lmao: Too funny! He probably would like to set up a cubby like that!

So cute! It's fun to find old pics and memorabilia, isn't it? :goodvibes

Thanks, Denise! We had lots of fun finding all of that. I think I would like to do a shadow box sometime with all of that stuff.

Jackie what a doll baby you were in that picture...boo to the little boy who popped in but stilll what a great memory to have!!!

Love the silhouettes, I have decided I want to have those done of my kids someday, of course I have to have kids first LOL!!!!

$8.00 what a deal (at least for today) love the Disney vintage stuff!! Great keepsakes to have!

Thanks, Jen! I put a good front on for the photo, but I was really livid about that boy. I never did like sharing, and I guess that included Mickey. LOL!

Yes, you must do silhouettes someday -- I love the ones I had done of Chelsea and Connor.

Can you imagine $8 for a hard-ticket event? I could take the whole family for just $32!

AMAZING items :goodvibes I save everything from our trips and my DH makes fun of me! Happy to see that you still love getting those things from your Mom as I hope to do the same for my DD!

You were a very cute kid! Your grin DID say it all!

Thanks! :goodvibes Oh, I save everything from our trips, too!

Love the vintage pics at Disneyland! So cool and very special that you have them!

My DD-13 and I went there for the first time last month. We loved it!

I would love to take the kids to Disneyland since I think 1979 may have been the last time I was actually there.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

(Only 4 more school Fridays for me!)

And now it's almost Monday, and a State Testing Monday at that -- well, after tomorrow, it will only be four more Mondays! A definite silver lining!

Just waiting for the day when you'll come back out my way for a little visit:thumbsup2

Hopefully sooner rather than later! After all, Chelsea does share a birthday with DL -- and the year she turns 18, Disneyland will turn 60...

WOW, that vintage Disneyland stuff is SO COOL! You can totally tell that that is you in hte picture too, same smile!!:goodvibes Thanks so much for sharing that stuff with us and $8 for a Disney event ticket.......WOW!:thumbsup2

Thanks, Diane! Wouldn't that be awesome if tickets for the parties were still $8?

I remember those days well...the random and free-for-all interaction with characters. I don't know if my parents got any pics of it, but there was one visit where I met Snow White and she kissed my cheek with her very red lips and I didn't wash it off for a week (or maybe it just finally rubbed off?). :lovestruc

Cool vintage stuff your mom saved. We still use the term "E ticket" to describe something exciting.

That is precious, Melissa! What a great memory to have!

Oh, we still use the term E ticket, too! :thumbsup2

I'm so used to seeing Disney pictures of you with a beverage in your hand... where's your milkshake?? ;)

I love the memorabilia, too! What a fun time you must've had re-living those days with your mom!

Kathy

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: I didn't realize that was my signature pose until you said that, Kathy, but I do think you are right -- there are an awful lot of pictures of me posing with my drink of choice.

What a cute photo Jackie! Seeing that makes me want to dig out our old pictures. I remember buying books of tickets & the best rides took E tickets. There were not as many of them in the books. The prices seem low, but at those times they were expensive. Two of my sons went to WDW as infants & they are now 33 & 35. Gosh it doesn't seem like it has been that long ago.

Thanks for bringing back old memories.:hippie:

Thanks! It really doesn't seem that long ago since I am 35 now -- where does the time go???

Love the photo! You don't look annoyed with the boy at all...you were even sweet then!

Oh, I could always turn the charm on for the camera -- inside I was absolutely raging at that little boy. :lmao:

OMG Jackie, I missed that incredibly cute picture yesterday! Sorry that rotton boy spoiled your fun with Mickey

$8 for an event ticket

Thanks, Katie! I really think the boy's mom probably shoved him next to Mickey -- he seems to be in a world of his own while he pats his head.

Camo
special delivey is scheduled for Sat
Dory out

I love special deliveries being made even if it is to someone else. ;)

I just wish they would still put the enhanced version on abc.com
I am cool with that. I just want answers!! Well we got some but them more questions- such a tease.

Do you ever find yourself saying, "Is that an answer? What's it an answer to?" I second guess myself a lot while watching the show.

Love the pic Jackie! So Cute! Let's see 1979 I was graduating high school:rolleyes1

Love the vintage tickets!! So cool! That is nice that you have Disney things from your childhood. I did not get to go to Disney until I had a 10 yr old:)

Thanks! :goodvibes Are you saving all of your Disney things to pass along to your children?

Jackie, I LOVE your vintage Disney memorabilia! So awesome!!

And $8.00 for that ticket?!?!?! I think about the only thing you can get now at Disney for $8 is a Diet Coke! :lmao:

Thanks, Katie! Too true about the Diet Coke for $8 nowadays and that's the one NOT in the souvenir cup. LOL!

:yay:

Hi, Brook! Thanks for stopping by -- I know things must be super hectic while you get things packed up and ready to move. I think Hilton Head will be a nice change of pace, and Charles does seem agreeable to trying to make an October trip work. :rolleyes1

Have you been watching Lost? I am already counting the days until the next episode again!

CP, preparations are being made for Bo. It's a team effort now.
We're going to make a sign, so tell us what you want it to say. :)

I am so excited!!! :yay: I will think about what the sign might say while I am administering the CRCT tomorrow -- it will help break up the monotony of testing. ;)

I don't believe so. The package is small enough that it should fit in your mailbox. I did not put anything needing a signature on it- no insurance on something of no real value. I can track it from here so I will see if I can keep up with it. no hurry, plenty of time.
Enjoy the party!

Oh, I am just tickled about this package that MeMom received this weekend, and I don't even know what's in it! :goodvibes

Awesome picture of you with Mickey (minus the strange boy)! :goodvibes You look exactly the same!!! :thumbsup2 Okay - maybe a tiny bit smaller, but the face is totally Jackie. ;)

:lmao: You are too funny, Carissa!

My next post is going to be about our goodies from Wigd! :woohoo:

Gotta love soccer games -- I love watching them, but I do hate when it is cold outside.

Oh CP.....I am at work yet again today and I can't see your picture. Why do I toture myself by trying to read TR's at work. Oh wait....I know....its because I don't have time at home! :rotfl:

I am so happy that you were able to find that special Disneyland picture!

Hi, MEK! I hear ya about the time thing! I definitely need more time these days!

Your trip is coming up soon, isn't it?

That picture is adorable- and at least the little boy matched!

Thanks, Julez!!!

The package made it.

See below for secret message.
Operation Lifeguard moves into action in three weeks. ;)

I was going to ask if I could see the secret message, but realized it shows up when I quote. :lmao:

over and out
Good Luck with Operation Lifeguard:cool2:
Dory

He he he! I can't wait to see how this all pans out! :rotfl:

Jackie I love the picture. You have the same smile still! I love old Disney pics. :goodvibes

Thanks, Crissy! I get such a kick out of old Disney photos! It always amazes me that the background of Disney itself hasn't changed very much, but we sure do look different fashion wise.
