TOP SECRET Ladies and gentlemens like the previous year MY FREE DINING NEWS

I have that same problem, grandaughter will be 3 in jan, this year we have connecting rooms at a value, and would like to go again next year, but to upgrade is so much more money, for just a tiny little girl. I do not know why the will not let 3 children and 2 adults stay in one room. The children are young they will be 3 4 and 5, so they do not take up much room and you are paying for tickets for them, we have 2 children and 2 adults in a connecting room You are right it ends up being over a thousand dollars, to upgrade.

It has to do with the fire code and how many people the room can officially hold. It is not up to Disney. It has more to do with how big the doorways are, if there are elevators or not, and many other things.

This is a fire code regulation.

That's awesome for those on those dates...but unfortunately, my dates in Oct. don't fall in here. :sad1: I agree with a previous poster, WHY are the dates all over the place? I can't even switch my dates since dh already got his vacation approved from work for when we originally planned. When I booked, the CM said "keep watching, FD should be announced by Aug. at the latest for your week"....and of course the week I'll be there isn't included. :-(

Free dining is offered to fill empty rooms during slower times. So most likely that week is a busier week at Disney.

I have us booked at Art of Animation in a LM room during one of the free dining promotions. After running numbers we would easily be able to do a moderate with free dining. I am hoping for Coronado. Will I be ok to wait to switch reservations until Thursday? I only want to upgrade to a mod if we can get free dining.

You should be fine in waiting. Just call as soon as possible on Thursday for your greatest chance of getting exactly what you want. :)

Any ideal how many nights that need to be booked to get the free dining? In the pass I know it has been 5 or 6 nights. But hoping to book over at AOA Little Mermaid for Thanksgiving day which over to POP to get free dining on the 23rd. But was looking to only book 4 nights this go around to limit amount of time the kids will miss school. Hoping that Magic Kingdon will not be a zoo on Black Friday. LOL Silly3mom:cheer2:

Question: My Mom put down the deposit for room- so technically the room is in her name. Can I upgrade to FD on Thursday if I have the ressies number or will She have to do it?

FD only requires a 3 night stay. They just give the example of a 5 night stay in their advertising. That has never been the requirement. :thumbsup2:

BTW, :welcome: to the Disboards!

3 nights and 2 days worth of tickets per person :thumbsup2

For those of you who have a family of 5 and have had difficulty booking POR during Free Dining promotions, where do you stay alternatively? This is our first time as a family of 5 (my daughter turned 3 recently) so we've only stayed in Values in the past. Now, when I try to look up other options, they are priced thousands of dollars higher. I'm a little nervous.
Two connecting rooms at a value resort is only about $10 to $15.00 more per night than POR and you get a lot more room and another bathroom.

You can call for your mother, but it depends on the kind of reservation she has made. Is it a room only reservation or has she booked a Magic Your Way package that includes resort and tickets and possible dining?

If she has a room only booked that will have to be cancelled, as you can not convert a room only reservation into a package reservation. If she already has a package booked, it will be no problem for you to call and have the FD code added to her existing reservation.

Thank you! It was a package so we just have to add the code! Yeah, FD bonus for our trip!:cheer2:

We are a family of five and this trip we booked POR, but 2 years ago we stayed in the cabins with DMIL so we were 6. It was great! We had garden grocer deliver groceries and we saved free dining credits by eating most breakfasts in the cabin. The grounds are beautiful and spacious. Te best part..... Parking right at your door. Made carrying the sleeping little ones in very easy! The other options for family of 5 are much more expensive.

Going by the dates given, if I want Free Dining I will have to arrive a day earlier than I had originally planned. Which is ok with me! Do you all think it is a sure enough bet that I should e-mail my Dreams Unlimited TA and have her add the extra day?:confused3

I am going in Octbober this year, and would like to go early December next year, if they give the bounce back, would it include meals, we already have the FD for Oct. my daugher got a pin about a month ago.Youngest grandaughter will be 3 in January so we need to get bigger room. We have 9 in our party. So right now I am trying to figure out how it would be cheaper, the cabins or a suite at Music and a room, since we will need 2 rooms. Anyone have any sugestions. We have two rooms this year at Movies, but will not be able to do that anymore.

No way to know in advance what the bounceback will be. We go in December and still haven't ever seen a FD bouceback. It's usually a room discount. Since we stay value, a 15 or 20% discount never does enough to get me to actually book it.

If you don't see a BB offer in the room when you check in, be sure to call and ask before checking out.

oooo this is exciting...... quick question b/c I'm obsessing right now.....:scared: I booked a room only for my dates and preferred hotel...then i decided it might be wise to book the package I really want..... for my dates at my chosen hotel,is this alright? I will likely cancel the room only res if I get the discount I'm looking for later..... or if I don't get FD at some point, I will cancel the package.....trying to plan is so fun,and stressful!:cool1: right now they're both booked,I thought that wouldn't be possible, yet I have the conf. #'s.....
