TOP SECRET Ladies and gentlemens like the previous year MY FREE DINING NEWS

You can book online, but the offer isn't usually on the website until later in the day. You would have to call to cancel the room only reservation anyway, so I would just call to do it all first thing in the morning on the 12th.

ETA: Money cannot be transferred from a room only to a package, so you will have to put down a full $200 at the time of booking, but you will get your other deposit refunded to you.

ETA take #2: Good news! It appears that you may be able to transfer the room only deposit to a package if you can get the CM to do it. Apparently some CMs need to be persuaded more than others. (Thanks to jenseib for this info! :goodvibes)

what you said first is accurate.. money can only be transferred to the same type of booking.. room only to room only and package to package.. cannot cross over.. not sure who said that RO can go to package but that was incorrect..

Hey, I was wondering if someone could give me an estimate of how much free dining will save us. Here's a summary of our trip.

Thanks for any help.

Like others have said, it depends on how many people are in your party and how long you are staying.

What I did was to price out on Disney's site how much it would cost without the DP added to our stay (just the room and tickets) and wrote down that number. I then edited the quote and added the DP into it (we are going for the basic DP). Once I had both totals, I just subtracted them to find the difference and found that we are saving in the $1300 range (that's for 3 adults - DS just turned 10 a week and a half ago). I used that as a tool to help us out with price b/c the TA we are booked with is a different kind of TA than the regular TA's (our's strictly works with bowling alleys).

The other way to do it is to go to the Dining Plan forums on the Restaurant board here on the DISboards. They have the prices listed for this year. It's about fifty something dollars per adult, per day and, IIRC, $15.99 per child, per day for children ages 3-9 (that's for the basic DP).

Does anyone know if the first week in December is EVER included in free dining or room discounts?? Even in previous years? Thanks for any info.:)

Usually no b/c of Pop Warner week. They always take the first full week of December to have their football championships. The only way to get FD would be to check in before the black out dates. That's for FD. I'm assuming they don't offer room discounts during that time period either, but I don't know for sure.

I have to tweek my days by a couple of days to get FD, should I do that now, so on the 12th, I can just call and add the FD?

I am pretty sure people over on the RC Tread have said they have been able to have the money transferred also

Oh yes....yes we have! :thumbsup2. And they are very quick about it, the money transfers in a day or two.

Thanks Danny. I actually bought my airline tickets last year based on your info (great deal 200pp round trip:thumbsup2). I have been anxiously waiting to see if you would post this year. I'm very excited that my days are included but disappointed that AOA LM rooms are excluded:sad2:. Guess I have a week to decided what to do. :confused3 I think it will be back to POFQ

Getting prepared for the long hold times.....They never have enough cast members working......

im having a difficult time working this and i have no idea why  perhaps not enough coffee this am. ive noticed many people think its a better deal to grab a mod with basic dining opposed to staying in a value with quick and upgrading. we currently are with the LM rooms and wanting to upgrade to basic... would it be better for a fam of 4 to upgrade to por?

thanks so much for the heads up as well :thumbsup2 this is just the news we've been waiting for :cool1:

You have to price it out. for some it is, some it isn't.

Based on Danny's info the Little Mermaid Rooms are excluded from the free dining offer so you would not be able to take advantage of FD unless you change to a different resort

I check in on 10/31 for 8 nights with the dining plan already reserved with my package. Does this mean I would only get the FD for the 10/31 and 11/1 or would I be able to get it for my entire stay?

As long as your check-in date falls within the promotion, you get it for your entire stay, up to 14 nights.

For us (2 adults, 2 teens considered adults by Disney) staying 8 nights, it was the same price to stay at a moderate as it was to stay at a value and upgrade the dining. You have to figure it all up and see how the numbers work for your group.

OK I'm feeling like a newbie here, but I can't seem to remember how many nights you have to book in order to qualify for free dining. Is it a 4 or 5 night stay?

Thanks!

Thanks for the info, went ahead and switched from LM to Pop, and while I was at it added on an extra night :goodvibes

Also remember that if you are basically paying the same at a moderate with free regular dining as you would be at a value with free quick service but paying to upgrade to regular dining then you might want to go with the moderate as all but one I believe have queen size beds. Good luck with whatever you decide.
