TOP SECRET Ladies and gentlemens like the previous year MY FREE DINING NEWS

They have never allowed downgrades, but starting this year you are allowed to use any or all of your TS credits for CS meals at all restaurants. :thumbsup2

Well...it WAS on the the DDP brochure under the "Some Great Tips" section at the beginning of the year, but now it isn't.:confused3

I know it was there because it was talked about quite a bit here on the boards. I'll dig around and see what I can find.:goodvibes

It was there. But they have since changed it and took out the TS credit for the CS meal part. We almost stayed at a moderate but we don't care for ADR's. So we switched backed to pop just in case. I know some places will do it. But it still isn't the normal outside of the resorts. We are just paying OP for a couple of TS meals and it is still alot cheaper than the upgrade. I don't really want to be tied down to adr's for 11 days.

Not sure buying the two day ticket would be worth it if you are already getting a discount on your room and tickets. If it were me, I would keep things as is and then switch your AAA code to a better room code if one comes along.

If you do decide to switch to FD, then you will have to completely cancel your current room (getting your deposit refunded to you) and book a completely new package with full price room, 2 day tickets and then the FD. You can definitely save those tix for later, but then if you want to switch to a room code you would go right back to having to completely cancel your package and get the refund and book the new room only. Money cannot be transfered from a room only to a package and vice versa, so it would require refunds and new deposits every time you switch.

Does that make sense?:rotfl:

Perfect sense! :thumbsup2

I think I've become paranoid as to if I make sense most times because DH looks at me a lot of times like I'm speaking a foreign language. Or, as has happened, his eyes glaze over.

I have the room PIN that came out many many months ago. I have the DDP and MYW tickets. When the FD offer becomes public on July 12, will I have to totally cancel that reservation or will they just be able to modify it? I have many ADRs scheduled for that reservation.

Should be able to apply it to your existing ressie, but you might have to change resorts if they run out of rooms in your existing resort for the promotion (doesn't usually happen first day, but could.)

If you are already booked under a Magic Your Way package, all you need to do is call and have them add that FD code to your existing reservation. You do not cancel or rebook anything. Even if you changed resorts your reservation number would remain the same.

Also, your ADRs don't really have anything to do with your resort reservation. Even if you cancelled your entire vacation and resort reservations, you would still need to cancel all of those ADRs separately.

Can anyone answer a question for me? I have a room only reservation for late October at this time. It will fall in the FD dining promotion period. Can I book a package online under special offers then immediately cancel the room only? Or do I need to call and book the package and cancel the room only ressie at that time? I would hate to cancel the room only reservation before booking a package (either online or by phone) and risk not being able to get a package at the resort of my choice, and that's assuming FD will apply at POFQ.

Thanks for any help someone can give me as to what my options are and the best way to go about booking.

I think you have to call to cancel. If you call to make the new reservation, they can probably transfer your down payment over. If you cancel and book separately, you'll have to pay over and wait for a refund to show up, or you could apply it to any outstanding balance.

You can book online, but the offer isn't usually on the website until later in the day. You would have to call to cancel the room only reservation anyway, so I would just call to do it all first thing in the morning on the 12th.

ETA: Money cannot be transferred from a room only to a package, so you will have to put down a full $200 at the time of booking, but you will get your other deposit refunded to you.

ETA take #2: Good news! It appears that you may be able to transfer the room only deposit to a package if you can get the CM to do it. Apparently some CMs need to be persuaded more than others. (Thanks to jenseib for this info! :goodvibes)

Thanks for the quick answers. I was hoping to avoid calling at 7am as I am traveling all day on the 11th and didn't relish getting so early but I will do what it takes to stand a chance of getting FD for POFQ for my vacation:thumbsup2

And used a year later on a different trip?

For those wondering about using TS credits for a QS meal... I wondered the same thing, so I e-mailed WDW and got this response...

Dear XXXXXX,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

Guests can purchase counter-service meals with table-service credits.
No refunds are given, however, for the difference in price.

We look forward to your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort and hope
that your time with us is magical.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if
applicable on all correspondence.

Sincerely,

PLEASE NOTE: All information is subject to change without notice and
should be confirmed just prior to your visit.

Are you allowed to use table service credits to purchase counter service
meals on the dining plan? On an earlier version of the 2012 brochure,
it indicated you could... But now it doesn't say anything about it on
the newest version.
Thanks!

Thats not true. I have done it before. The thing is not all CM's will do it because it involves more work for them and they will just say it can't be done.

Thats not true. I have done it for clients already. The thing is not all CM's will do it because it involves more work for them and they will just say it can't be done. Once I found out it can be, I usually insist they do it...but others just automatically do it.

Interesting! I've never heard of anyone being able to do it, and have had no luck doing it myself. I'm not very good at being insistent. :rotfl: I guess I never minded having to do a new deposit. I mean, if I didn't have enough to cover one night's room and $200, I sure wouldn't be taking a vacation.

I am pretty sure people over on the RC Tread have said they have been able to have the money transferred also

REALLY bummed about LM rooms being excluded. Now we may have to switch (prob over to Pop where we stayed last year) as we can't justify paying out of pocket for 14 days on the dining plan. We may pay more to stay just the weekend in the LM rooms since we have them booked and I REALLY want to, but afraid switching to Pop after LM will be a let down.

Ok- so if it is announced online later in the day, how do we know that fd is indeed announced on July 14? Do we just call in the morning and ask if it is now available?

These boards, and every other Disney Board in the blogosphere will be lit up like a Christmas tree. There will be, literally, thousands of people on the phone when the WDW reservation lines open up and many of them will be posting on this thread and all over other threads on the Disboards.
