DH and I will be staying at BLT for a few nights in Oct. Do I need to make a reservation for drinks at the Top of the World Lounge?

I remember reading that it can get pretty crowded up there!

Also, I've read that TOW is strictly for DVC members. DH and I are DVC members and will be staying at Kidani Village on our points at the beginning of our trip. The BLT portion of the trip is a surprise for DH and I had to pay cash to be assured we'd get it! Will I have an issue?!

TIA!

Our experience... and others on this board have posted... that the Lounge is hardly ever busy:cool1: (unless it's Holiday season maybe). So no, you don't need reservations (I'm not quite sure they take them anyway:confused:).

As long as you made your cash reservation thru Member Services you will have access to the Lounge. :thumbsup2 Have a great time!!

From all reports, you need (minimally) a BLT KTTW card that says DVC member on it, so if you have a regular cash reservation through Disney (not MS), I don't think you will be able to use the lounge.

You will need to be staying at BLT to access the lounge. Either staying at BLT on points or a cash reservation for BLT made with Member Services.

You will NOT need a reservation. Bruce (one of the bartenders) told me that they've never turned anyone away yet due to capacity in the lounge.

Make sure to arrive a good bit early (30-60 minutes) and grab drinks before the fireworks. They can get busy within 30 minutes of the fireworks and you might miss them if you are waiting on a drink.

If you're going up to the lounge, PLEASE have a drink or 3 :-D We, as members, need to support it in order to keep it available to us.

This is correct. If you made your cash reservation for BLT through DRC (CRO), you won't be able to go up to the TOTWL. Your KTTW won't say DVC Member. But if you made a cash reservation for BLT through DVC Member Services, you will.

Your points stay at AKV won't help you at all get up there.

Not sure why you're dancing, because actually it's very sad! We as members have been given one of the best lounges on property, and yes, it's dead up there most nights! Over half of the opening team has already bailed! Do you want the rest of them to bail also?

Get up there and patronise the bar! Buy a few drinks and some food! If we dont use it, we will loose it!

You cant lose what you don't have. The TOTW belongs to Disney, not the DVC. It is being used as a marketing incentive and as soon as BLT sales reach a certain point, I predict that the lounge will close and be available only for private parties, and the viewing area will be opened to all BLT Guests.

Ok...let me explain......I'm happy because there's actually room for us to sit at the bar or at a table, instead of standing room only like other bars. We LOVE the Lounge, and visit every evening of our stay, as it is our favorite new place to hang out! On our first visit we were surprised to see that hardly anyone was up there, and also worry that it will close....so yes "we DO use it, and we also don't want to LOSE it". :thumbsup2

Time will tell.... we will enjoy every moment while we can... and hope to always be able to enjoy the Lounge on future visits! ;)

definitely! done the drinks - have not eaten there - is the food good?

what is served?

There are 3 flatbreads- we enjoy each of them although our favorite is the BLT, there is also a dessert trio that is good. I think there may be a couple of other things on the menu- other appetizers.

Love TOW, DH and I were there 4 out of 5 nights. Had the flatbreads and dessert. IMHO if they were to expand the menu there would be more guests
enjoying it.

We have never been in the lounge, but it one of the things I am looking most forward to on our first trip home although that is not until next June. I completely agree with this statement. DH and I abosolutely love sitting down for a drink and snack at many of the WDW hotel lounges. We have always done this with our kids (now 13 and 16). The TOW just seems like it is crown jewel of hotel lounges. We have commented more than once that a larger menu would probably draw more people. However for some reason maybe that isn't what Disney wants. I also wouldn't be surprised someday if it disappears from the DVC perks, but I hope it is around long enough for us to enjoy it for awhile.

just make sure you show up like 20 minutes before the firewworks in the lobby so you have enough time to get the person at the desk in the lobby to take you up there. becuase you get personally escorted to the elevator by them.

I think if they want to increase visitors to the Lounge it would be great to open it up to all DVC members, regardless of where you are staying. We have stayed at a number of other DVC resorts and are going back to SSR in the Fall. If I was given the opportunity to check out the Lounge I would, and perhaps that would make me think about staying BLT in the future. :thumbsup2

We'll be stopping for a visit there in Nov. We'll be sure to have a few drinks and maybe some dessert, for the good of all DVC members :rotfl2:

The menu is limited because Disney doesn't have a kitchen at BLT. Just a warming station and a microwave and that is on the floor below the TOTWL.

The lounge is JUST for BLT DVC members only? Is it open to other DVC members also? Would happily support the lounge by eating and drinking there if I could!
