Top Chef Seven--May Contain Spoilers!

Yes, right after the finale.

Interesting no one wrote about the end of last week's show. :p I was thinking again, when Kelly got to stay, that Tiffany got robbed. Had she gotten to stay instead of being sent home, maybe Angelo would have gotten the boot.

I think Kelly is pretty unremarkable. The judges seem to think that way about her food, too.

I was hoping that Angelo was going to get the boot. I loved how Ed was trying to mess with his mind. Even Angelo thought he'd be the one sent packing.

I just hope that all the sickness in the previews aren't to throw us off and have him come back to win. :headache:

I want Ed to win. He's got a great personality, though not as delightful as Tiffany's. I like that he didn't back down in the final challenge even though he had immunity. I'd love to try his banana fritters.

After the complete attitude change after winning immunity I think Ed should go. I shudder to think how big a jerk he would be if he wins! Not to mention the stunt he pulled by telling the other chefs they should all do 1 entree, and then planning to do 2 himself. And then commenting about how stupid they were for not planning to do 2.

If you can't prove you are a better chef without playing games, then you are either really insecure or not that great of a chef.

In most cases, I'd agree with you, but since the producers get a say in who stays and who goes, playing games could keep you in the game. If having overall cooking skills was a reason to keep a chef in the game, Tiffany would be in the final three.

I looked at that part of the episode again. I think Angelo was the one who asked if they should each do one dish or two, and it was Ed who piped up right away, (according to the edit) that they should do one.

While it might have been dirty pool, that decision might have actually helped everyone. Yes, TC always throws in a twist. Had they decided to do two dishes, Tom or Padma would have walked in and required a third dish from all of them. :faint:

I was so sure Tiffany was going to win. She had the most talent, and all it took was one small mis-step and she was gone. It seems a lot of it has to do with who the judges just plain like better.

First, there's a lot of editing done on these shows. You can take sound bites from 30 hours of video and make almost anyone appear to be a villain.

Second, it's a competition! I have no problem with them messing with each other's heads. As long as they don't actually sabotage anyone's cooking.

No one forced the other chefs to go along with Ed's "suggestion." They're all grown ups and they've all played the game just as long as Ed has. If they don't realize that it is stupid to plan only one dish, then maybe they're not the real chefs!

I thought Ed was a jerk in last weeks episode. It appears that without Tiffany around he is letting his mean side out. I hope Kevin or Angelo wins because I hate to see mean people win. I wish Tiffany was still in the game.:wizard:

I don't fault Ed for planning 2 dishes, however I think it was a mistake for him to announce to Tom and the other chefs that he had been planning it all along. It would have been more effective for him to plan it, then be smug in confessional. The producers and the audience would be aware of how smart he is, but he wouldn't have come off as such a jerk.

I agree with pp about how Ed should not have gloated in front of everyone saying he already planned a second dish. He should have just agreed about the two dishes and made it even though he was planning it all along.

I think it was kind of spur of the moment decision for Ed to do the second dish. He saw something in the store and decided at that moment to do 2 dishes, so I don't think he was plotting it all along, it was just a quick decision.

Unfortunately, what makes some people jerks is that they can't pre-plan what comes out of their mouths.

I think the producers are trying NOT to make this a def win for Angelo by making Ed his nemesis. No one would watch if it was a definite winner, also, they need antagonism to keep it interesting.

I've never been an Ed fan, he seems too wimpy and insecure to me. His obsession with Angelo is a turn off, too, though I'm sure it's edited to make him a rival. He was nowhere near Tiffany in prowess, yet he and Kevin and Kelly are still there? :confused3 Ridiculous.:headache:

The final three should've been Kenny, Angelo and Tiffany with Tiff winning. Now THAT would've been a competition! :yay:

So, is it just me or is Ed acting like a total d-bag tonight?

:confused3 Eh, I like him. I hope he takes it. If Angelo wins after spending an entire day in bed, that is crap.

I did read an article in which Kelly stated that everyone had 2 dishes in mind for the last challenge. Ed wasn't the only one who thought it, he was just the first one to say it.

They usually pick the least deserving chef for the title. They stayed true to form.

Hung deserved to win his year. So did Stephanie.

I would have loved getting Hung as my sous chef. He didn't even need Angelo in the Kitchen with him on the prep day of this challenge, except to tell him what he wanted done. Hung has worked for a few famous chefs, who probably ordered him around in the same fashion. That training of having the discipline to being able to work unsupervised, yet the way the chef wants it done, without needing to throw in his own ego, showed through. He is like a Ron Popeil Vegematic, Slice-a-matic, automatic cooker, all-in-one machine, all by himself. :thumbsup2

I got tired of Ed whining about Angelo. I should have known that was an editing set up for Kevin winning instead of either of those two. Plus, he just had a whiny, loser attitude when he got called out for his simplistic dessert, saying he could have ruined a lemon curd if he had made it. Like that and the chocolate cake thingie were the only two choices for desserts. :sad2:

I woulda never guessed Kevin would win when so early in the season he was suckingggggggggg!

I actually wanted Angelo to win but thats more because I like Hung.
As far as worthy top chef winners I'd say Howard, Hung, Michael Voltaggio deserved their wins. I feel that season 2 Marcel Season Richard Blais season 4 Season 5 Stefan Richter though to be honest I really wanted Kevin to win season 6 lol
