Top Chef Desserts sucked but the food looks great the season preview looks like it will have too many visits from the drama llama

I don't know ... there is something wrong with a 90 minute "Quickfire".

I thought that at first, too. Then I realized how long it takes for a cake to cool before you can frost it.

No wonder pastry chefs come up with so many wild decorations... there must be so much down time when waiting for things to cool.

I think that it's an interesting mix of backgrounds... some bakers, some pastry chefs, etc. But, they are also one weird bunch.

I think there's a lot of interesting looking chefs in general, if you also consider the crowd they get for Hell's Kitchen, although I realize it's reality TV and they are trying to find interesting characters.

They'll also be announcing that Season 8 will feature all-stars from seasons past. Finally! Soooo looking forward to that.

The names of the all stars will be revealed on the reunion show tonight. From the Top Chef website:

Top Chef Season 8 is OFFICIALLY Top Chef All-Stars! This means that 18 top chefs from previous seasons will return to compete to take a stab at the title once again. And if your head isn't already exploding, you don't have to wait long -- the season premieres December 1st at 10/9c, and ... wait for it ... wait for it ... BOURDAIN IS BACK! Anthony Bourdain will be joining the cast as a regular judge, alternating with Gail Simmons.​

Augh. They really ought to look at someone's entire cooking history on the show when considering the winner. This is just as ridic as Hosea winning over Stefan two seasons ago. Ridiculous.

I was thinking the same thing about the pea puree.

Season 8 sounds like it might be interesting. O just hope it's not all the whiny, drama lamas.

So happy they are doing an "All Stars" version next season. The chefs they picked will be great if not entertaining. I am excited the Fabio will be back.

I agree about Spike & Dale, but I am in love with Jamie. My DW thinks it is really funny, too, since Jamie is a lesbian, so I have a 0% chance with her. Well, that, and I'm already married.

I can't stand that Mike I. and Tiffani (from Season 1) will be back. Mike is such a pompous windbag.

I was so disappointed that Kevin won, I really think him having Michael as his helper was a huge help to him.

I can't wait for the all stars season. I wish Brian V was going to be on there.

They have no footage of Alex making Pea Puree and the have no footage of him taking it. I have no idea how that happens

I also could live without Tiffany from Season 1, she's been on several Top Chef specials and I cannot STAND her pompous attitude. She's stretching her 15 mins of fame to the limit!

Perhaps her 15 minutes of fame on TV, but I have friends in Boston who have eaten at a place called Rocca (where she is/was chef) and they thought her food was awesome! So her cooking fame seems intact.

But I do agree about her attitude at times.
