Where I'm from it is an AWESOME reason!! AND a justification....
If you're joking, it's a lousy joke. If you're serious, that's just plain lousy.
How would you feel if everyone complained about Cliff being oh....let's use a really loaded word like "uppity". And then one night they all got together and decided to hog tie him and put it on film....would that be awesome, and justified?
My take on the Marcel thing is that he has really poor social skills...
I didn't think Robin was joking. There are many people in this world who look for excuses to pick on or hog tie other people for reasons that the rest of us would shun. Watch the news at night. Drive by shootings, road rage shootings, rapes, murders, beatings.... you don't think that there are people in your area who would just as soon shoot a person because they looked at them the wrong way? I live in the real world and agree with what Robin said. While she lives in a big city where there may be more of those people pining for any excuse to justify their actions, I live in a smaller town where I know these people exist, too.
But the point is, do those people who are shot at, beaten, etc. deserve it because they are annoying? Do you find that violence amusing?
Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Robin's point was, based on her previous posts, that Marcel deserved to be held down and threatened, because he was so annoying. And that anyone like Marcel would be treated similarly in her neighborhood, and that would be hilariously entertaining to watch.
OMG, did Taylor Hicks hit a cop?Nice.![]()
Of course, it's not too surprising considering the homage to a man convicted of assaulting a police officer in your sig...
OMG, did Taylor Hicks hit a cop?
As for her signature, yep, I'm sure that she put him there because he assaulted a cop. It couldn't possibly be for all of the greatness he brought to music. There's talk about his estate setting up a Graceland type memorial to him. I'm sure that's because he assaulted a cop, too. Oh, and when I explained to my kids who he was when we heard of his death, they thought he was a pretty neat guy. They could understand why I was sad that he had passed. So many more cops to assault and all...

Robin, who in my opinion, is one of the nicest people on the DISboards, is a strong woman who certainly doesn't need me to defend her, but it's most definitely apparent to me that THIS WAS SAID AS A JOKE! She's originally from Brooklyn and was obviously making a joke about the stereotypical image of New Yorkers. I don't think anyone needs to get their panties in a wad over this and end up having to have the thread closed as happened with the American Idol thread two seasons ago.Where I'm from it is an AWESOME reason!!AND a justification....

I would hate to think that Robin would end up avoiding this thread because I've enjoyed and appreciated her comments.
And, IIRC, she mentioned in another thread that she knew James Brown personally. I'd have him in my siggy under similar circumstances, not to mention that his contributions to American music cannot be trumpeted enough.
Back to Top Chef discussion, please...

Yep, he's my hero.
In 1967 he wrote these words:
"Some say we have a lot of malice some say we have a lot of nerve..."
I guess you might say I have both.
Yes, he made mistakes but he wrote words that got me through some horrible times back in the 60s, and that's what I remember him for.
Hey, I don't pick on Pooh, do I? Get off my siggie!!![]()
BTW, I WAS kidding, people, get REAL. I too, have a son and would never justify the way I survived the mean streets on anyone. I still think Marcel is a jerk and though he didn't deserve the manhandling, he sure as heck doesn't deserve to be Top Chef just because everyone feels sorry for him.
Now, as someone said earlier, let's get back to the TC discussion!
