Hi all. Just got married last week abroad, and me and the new wife are going to WDW in september as a kind of late honeymoon (plus the fact we absolutely love going there!!).

We've been quite a few times before but are going to stay in the Animal Kingdom Lodge for the first time, and would like to know what some of the best restaurants are throughout Disneyworld - either in the parks or hotels.

We're not after anything too cheesey, just really good food.

Any advice or tips would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Blessings on your marriage!! May you spend many happy years together :lovestruc

We have not had the chance to visit a lot of the table services, but here are our top 5.

5. 50s Prime Time
4. Teppan Edo
3. Jiko
2. Les Chefs de France
1. Le Cellier-Mushroom Filet...heaven on a plate, I'm telling you!

Have a great trip!

For us, it would be the following [in no particular order}
1. Flying Fish - actually, this is our favorite, so it came immediately to mind
2. The Grand Florida Cafe - often overlooked, but some delightful menu choices
3. Biergarten [its a rare opportunity for us to have German food...so maybe we like it better than it truly merits, but for us its perfect]
4. Kona is a great breakfast
5. 50s PTC - just fun + we've never had a bad meal

Our favorites:
Le Cellier
Mama Melrose's
GF Cafe
Kona Cafe
50's--although the changes and quality over the last few years has gone down--thanks imho to the DDP

Our list is a combo of good food and good fun.

Jiko
'Ohana (but Kona isn't bad either but we love the atmosphere at 'Ohana)
Chefs de France
Le Cellier
Teppan Edo

Of course enjoyment and taste are subjective but we've had good times and food at them all.

Congratulations on your marriage and enjoy your honeymoon.

California Grill
Victoria & Alberts
Le Bistro de Paris
Citricos
Hollywood Brown Derby

Honorable Mentions:
Yatchsman
Shula's

chefs de france or bistro de paris stand out, just how good is the food??

Aldo victoria and alberts is something I would love to try.... but I have heard it is mega expensive. Any idea just how much a 3 course meal with wine for 2 adults might cost us?

I would have to say
1. Le Cellier
2. BOMA
3. KONA cafe for breakfast
4. San Angel Inn
5. Californira Grill

1. Ohana
2. LeCellier
3. Boma
4. Garden Grille (If you want to be able to meet some characters on your HM -great character interaction, and we really like the food there too!!!)
5. Mama Melrose

We have not been to Teppen Edo yet, but have heard good things about that pace too. We have an ADR for there in August. Congrats!!! :goodvibes

Narcoossee's
Le Cellier
Ohana
50's Prime Time

That's all for dinner (top of what I've tried so far) so I'll throw in a breakfast.

I believe Victoria and Albert's is a prix fixe menu, 5 course. ~125$ [edit/clarity: per person] Wine is around 60$.

But this isn't from personal experience, just from a guidebook.

For us it would be:
1. Narcoosees @ GF
2. California Grill
3. Flying Fish
4. Les Chefs de France
5. Kona (Breakfast)

thank you so much, latex! What sort of food do ohana or kone serve, and are they close to each other?

'Ohana and Kona are right next to each other on the second floor of the Polynesian resort. Both restaurants serve similar food with a sweet pacific rim flavor. There are a couple items that are on both menus (sticky wings come to mind). Kona is ala cart and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 'Ohana is a character breakfast, closed for lunch and family style dinner. We have only done dinner at both restaurants. Here's a link to the AllEars page for menus. Scroll to the Polynesian and you can pull them up.

Of the two, 'Ohana has the better location because it is located along the back wall of the resort and as a result has some tables with a view of the bay and MK in the distance. It can get a bit chaotic since they have wandering musician/entertainment, coconut races, and hula lessons throughout the evening. This encourages people to get up and around. If you think restaurants for dining and no tom-foolery then this isn't the place for you. The center of the restaurant has a GIANT roasting pit where they grill all these meats and shrimp on skewers and then bring them to your table. It's all you can eat so they'll keep it coming as long as you want.

Kona more or less appears to be a "lobby" restaurant but don't let that worry you. The food is delicious and the service is good so you let those things slide. Plus the lobby of the Poly is gorgeous so it reallly isn't so bad.

Hopefully you'll try at least one of the two. We leave in 8 days and we're doing both. It was easier to do that than decide.

I wouldn't do 50's Prime time because you said you didn't want something Cheezy/tacky. Plus 50's is more of an US experiance of things people would remember from the 1950's in US.

I'd say try JIKO--The cooking Place-- if you're staying at AKL. It is a signiture restaurant and get's great reviews.

Our faves are:

Coral Reef-the seasonal catch with scallop mushroom risotto is my all time best meal at WDW ever!

Mamma Melrose-excellent wood fired flatbreads

O`Hanna- Loved everything here.

LeCellier-Mushroom fillet Mmmmm!

Kona Cafe-great quality food.

I noticed you are going in September......did you book a discount for your trip? Free dining is going on at that time and all of the resturants I listed are included in that promotion.

Congrats on your marriage.....I hope you have a great time!

I've just booked Boma but we've agreed to give Jiko a try too, as I'm hearing good things on here about it.

Many thanks! We booked through virgin holidays and got the dining plan for free. Looking forward to trying out many places. Not heard of O'hannas. What sort of food do they do? Think we're definitely going to give le cellier and kona a try!
