Also I find level 3 much easier than level one for some reason

I agree. Level three seems to be far easier than the other two levels, maybe because you can go invisible whenever you want, and the opposing pirates cannot. But in the first level, you can use the islands to provide cover, and in the second level you have the possibility of the pirate spotlight to turn your ship invisible... then again, a sea serpent might jump out of the water and snack on your ship. The third level just seems to go by easier, and the rewards are greater... for now.

As far as actual gameplay, definitely start off shooting from a distance. In several battles, the blue pirate ships will sit still until your fire hits them, so plan accordingly. And don't wait until you only have one health left to go sailing for more boxes of health... when you have a chance to replenish, do it. And remember, if you are playing alone, your red pirate ship companion is mostly an idiot. If he engages in battle, he might do some damage, but that's only if he engages... he's just like the other pirates, dumber than a bag of hammers but loaded with cannon balls. And one more thing... if you are playing on level three and have a few shots to waste, shoot the buildings. Each hit is worth 50 points, and a few good volleys can make the difference between the dreaded BLUE TEAM WINS and the preferred RED TEAM WINS. Again, this is only if you have the shots to waste, like if your partner is making short work of the last moron pirate ship and you are on the other side of a building. Who says vandalism doesn't pay?

Also, if you are wanting to advance in the first two levels, politely ask for help. Whining is no incentive, but most everyone on Dis has been where you are, and somebody helped us all those sunken ships ago, too. Help is out there; just request it like you would ask for something in real life.

I totally agree with that. While I do have my addiction to ice, I will gladly help others move up. Gives me a change.

Also, I agree the 3rd level is easier. In certain instances when you move in the same pattern, you can almost predict where those Blue pirates will go. That is what helps me get a high score. This is of course, only works in a solo game.

Update vmk guide/games/potc
1000 credits bonus at 500 wins at level 3
1000 credits bonus at 600 wins at level 3
1000 credits bonus at 700 wins at level 3
800 wins at level 3, I suspect will be the same.

When your invisibilty spell has been achieved. Get on the high score board for an additional invivisibility spell. It gives the invisibily spell pdf. which must be redeemed at the park.

Another good tip, be kind to those behind you, exit the ship/dock prompty.
Don't block the dock.

Advanced tactics/naval maneuvers.
For those that use the arrow keys to fire.
Use invisibility cloak. Travel toward enemy fire while moving past. Give just a second lead time. Fire broadside, enemy will miss your ship.
When you are past about an inch, put mouse pointer in ocean directly beneath your ship about 6 inches, slightly to eighter side (about an inch)
depending your want of right or left turn.

Click to turn, this produces a fast U-turn or J-turn. We can turn faster than the enemy, use this to your advantage. It is what I call the button hook. Use between the fort and bank in narrow channels on level 3, rounds one and two.
Once first salvo has been launched do the button hook, this turns you 180
degrees or there abouts. The enemy ship is trying to turn and pauses briefly
(a sitting duck) letting you sail past now in the oppisite direction unleash second salvo. Buh-bye Mr. pirate Give my regards to Davey Jones. lol.

If there are two ships in the north, top of screen, and one below in the south trailing you, or one appoaching from the west beneath the fort.

All 3 can be sunk with full cannon shot/full health aboard in a matter of seconds. Resupply cannon shot, you have one enemy left which ought to be a piece of cake at this point.

A little practice with this and you can achieve some wicked back spins on your cannon shot.

Memorize where the ammo supplys refresh, usually they appear in the same locations. The enemy ships follow a pattern most of the time.
I hope this advanced tactic proves useful. (Credits+ice)

Let me know if i should include more advanced tactics.

Game is open time to sink ships, catch you laters.

I just CAN'T get past step 14 of 16 in the Dive Quest!!! I've won in POTC level one at least twice now but when the game finishes, I always discover that I have failed to finish my task in time. I have been really trying to slug it out, when I get upset I stop playing and then go back and try again later, but at some point I am starting to this is becoming ridiculously difficult and not much fun. ALL I want to do is visit Star Trader's Shop, the quest does not interest me otherwise. WHY did they take away the direct teleport to it? Does anyone else feel the same way, and other than the very good playing tips I saw in this forums, any suggestions pls as to what I might be doing wrong? Thanks!

Thanks for the tips! And thanks Fly for the pirate button tip :thumbsup2

-cough, cough- Out

If i remember correctly.
This will save you some time.

From fantasyland in the sky. Buy a lumiere lamp.
Do the smile.

Dont hit next task but go to the pirates lobby.
Then hit it, then beat it.
You allready have the lamp before you need it.

That should speed you up sufficiently.

I would love help in advancing to level 3 in the morning. I made top 10 list today which was a little exciting. I haven't read the slip so hope it doesn't expire before our January trip, but since I have two characters and two kids who play (and one 7 yr old who wants to but I tell her she's too young), more won't hurt. So if anyone is game for meeting at the Pirate's dock I'll have Caribbean_Gal there (aka TrishaDiva) with a level two game hopefully at 9 AM CST- when vmk opens. Or PM me so I know who to specifically look for later. I have to leave the house at noon.

I know it's posted somewhere but maybe it would help to include it in beginning of this one that 10 wins to get to level 2. I don't know how many to get to level 3, or how many I've already won but I think it's been close to 10. pirate:

I mostly have been playing by myself b/c people only play 1 or 3, rarely 2, and I tend to win more by myself than with players I don't know who don't do so well (not that I do all the time) or if real people join other side.

Do you get ice for every win at level 3? One cube? I like the game *don't let your feet hit the floor* or whatever it's called. Never played it but watched ds once.

Great tip re shooting from a distance. I do both, but I didn't know you get more points for distance shot, nor points for buildings.

Now I need to get some sleep or this Gal will be dozin' after the kids get on the bus instead of blastin' away those nasty pirates. DS goes on class trip to Six Flags. Hopefully won't have thunder and lightning like today.

Thanks Kingsfoil, I already have a lumiere, should I just put it back in my inventory or do you think I will have to buy another one? I hope not, this is getting expensive lol I had to buy stuff from SM Imports three times the other day when failures kept setting me back, gah!

Oh, wait a sec, buy a lumiere from Fantasyland in the Sky???...???? :scratchin Where is a shop up there?

Never mind, now you can see why I can't finish that quest :confused3 :rolleyes2
