Toothsome - shut down

It is Florida.

It is a shame they let it get that bad. I am sure the creepy crawlies did not show up overnight.

At least they will have freq inspections now.

I can’t read the article as I’m in the UK, but doesn’t sound good..........

They’ll sort it I’m sure, but ewwwww!!! Never nice to hear of things like that.

Kind of makes me glad I never had the chance to eat there. Yuck, and I wont on our next trip either.....

They found roaches on the wall in the chocolate room, gnats flying in the kitchen, and mold scum in the ice machine.

How do you get that stuffed resolved same day? It's not Bob's Burgers.

Easy. You call in an exterminator, and give the ice machine a good cleaning.

That is what makes me mad. That could have been fixed already.

Poor management and possibly uncaring, lazy employees. The employees may not have been able to call the exterminators, but they surely could have cleaned the ice machine.

I hate when people don't want to do their job.

Florida sucks when it comes to restaurant inspections. I don't want to stumble into any political discussions and I like many things about living here. But we're not exactly a state known for prioritizing consumer protection. I notice some states like NC and NY require establishments to post their most recent health inspection grade at the entrance. That was voted down here many years ago.

I once had a bad experience with takeout food (bugs - yuck!) and after calling and getting an indifferent reaction from the restaurant, I researched them online in the state database and discovered this restaurant had quite a few past violations. So I filed a report with the health inspection agency. Just like before, I think they were shut down for a day or two, then reopened. No lasting impact.

I do adore dining out. I just try not to think too much about what's going on in the kitchen! :scared1:

But I totally agree with a poster above - places like UO, WDW and bigger restaurant chains are more cognizant of the bad publicity - they'll clean up their act fast.

Shoot I was really looking forward to trying it this weekend! I didn't read the article because I don't even want to think about the details even if we don't eat there...

I think it's best not thinking about too much anywhere. Heck even packaged food is allowed to have up to so many bug parts in it (bleck!). I used to work by an Asian place here in MN and my coworkers and I ate there a few times and really liked it - until the news came out that health inspectors had found either rat or mouse droppings. I don't remember the details of which and of whether it was just in the kitchen or actually in food - I tried hard not to pay close attention or think about it too much so that I wouldn't feel sick! We could never go back...

It happens. I work for a food production plant that has very very strict GMPs and we still run into issues with bugs and mice. We have had a very wet summer where I am at and it happens. People do get lazy and hopefully this is an eye opener and higher ups will now listen to the people who have probably been saying something for weeks if not months.
