$1 we're cheap around here. My kids have to earn money not have it given to them.

I had planned on getting $2 bills, but they are pretty hard to find, so it'll be $5 bills. That's really not a lot... 20 teeth at $5 each is $100 over the course of more than a year.

DS7 is the only kid in his class (second grade) who hasn't lost a tooth yet.

My kids are past this stage but one of my daycare boys lost his first tooth about a month ago and the tooth fairy left him $20!

This of course upset another child because she gets less than that.

Two of those gold dollar coins and a small (in size and price) gift (because the tooth fairy is small and can't carry anything big ) My DD treats those coins as treasures, though, so they don't get spent.

Go to your bank and request them. I went to my local branch when DS had his 1st "wiggler" so we would be prepared. I asked and they had them in stock but I was told they could also order them for me. I "bought" enough to cover both kids mouths so that I wouldn't be caught without.
