Took the Add On Plunge

We did a 25 add on for Animal Kingdom...same usage year as we have on resale. Figured we always would but called and they had inventory, so we took the opportunity just in case inventory starts to lessen.

Quick question for someone who might know...do they send you any welcome gifts? We got the magnets and such from the resale buy but do direct come with any better items? Thinking holidays and maybe wrapping them if so?

They sent us a tote bag with our add on. It was for 50 points though so I don't know if that made a difference.

Also got a tote bag. Really looks great on my husband.... LOL! Might have to go buy him a more manly looking DVC member backpack or something. Would have been nice to get a hat or something included since there were two of us signing the paperwork.

Haha DW actually liked the tote bag so much that we asked for an extra one.

tote bag for 25 points when we added last year. Presumably you should get it as well. The big benefit though was the $200 savings on APs.

If memory serves me correctly, the tote bag comes with your contract that you need to send back.

A few days (weeks? Don't recall exactly) later I received the "direct purchaser version" of the letter with magnets. It's just a fancier looking information booklet in this small white box and with it... more DVC member magnets. My wife has not changed her surname yet and so we received 2 of the boxes, addressed to "her family" and "my family". We now have 6 magnets, (all the same).

I bought a 25 point add on last Friday. I'm in UK and still waiting for contract to come. Hope I get the bag.
My card is still white on the system, although the points were on there and I banked.
I rang my guide, a senior guide yesterday, to ask why the card is still white. I was told they are informed it's not to change over to blue until the contract is back.

I'll be buying a 25 point contract by the end of the month and will be spending Christmas at Disneyworld from December 20-January 6. I'll ask my agent if I can pick up the tote bag while at Disneyworld and possibly getting some extra FP's for the family, particularly around Christmas week to New Years Eve.

Off topic a little here but I have read many times people refer to "my guide" in posts. What is that in reference to? We bought resale and then added on but I never received a guide personally?

Your "Guide" is your sales person. As soon as you purchased resale, you were assigned a "Guide" unless one was previously assigned (which could happen if you took a tour or requested information from DVC).

Huh...I was never given that info or completely missed it. I called general sales to get my add on and worked with any awesome sales gentleman. I guess he would be my guide now?
