If my boys meet the height requirements, are Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Canyon too wild for them? (They are 4)

my son went on both of those last year. He was 3 at the time (he is very tall for his age!!) and he loved both of them. We ended up going on both several times. The height requirement is 40inches.

Same here. My boy loves both of these rides at Disneyland. He's 4 now. Been doing Big Thunder Mountain Railroad since he was 3.

Our grandson went on both of these last October when he was 3 and a half.
He went back on splash a 2ed time.
After riding Thunder Mountian I asked him if he liked that ride. He replied "yes". So I asked him "do you want to go on it again?' to which his answer was a firm "NO!" :rotfl2:

Have fun at Disney!

My 5 year old son said the EXACT same thing. He LOVED it, but didn't want to ride it again. :confused3

I'm planning on letting my daughter ride them (assuming she grows the crucial inch this summer) - I already know she'll love them. She did a ride with a drop similar to Splash at a **lesser** theme-park last summer (the ride itself is NO COMPARISON), and she already wants to ride kiddy-coasters (i.e. Barnstormer) over and over again. She is a thrill-seeker and has no fear!

My dd at three absolutely loved them! Disclaimer though: she is pretty fearless by nature. I'd take your kids on a few tamer rides first and see how they're doing and work them up to it. If they love Pirates and Gadget Go Coaster--they'll probably love them both too. Splash Mountain is a lot more kid-friendly because other than the big hill, it's very tame and cute and I'd say no problem there. Big Thunder is more of just a roller-coaster and definitely over-all more intimidating. Also good to know about Big Thunder is that there's no real seatbelts, just a lap bar which doesn't fit smaller kids well because it's high up on the adult's legs. That leaves little ones with a lot of space to flop around during the ride. It did make me nervous with my three-year-old and I kept an arm firmly clamping her in place the whole time.

I took my 4 yoa niece on both last year. We were off without her mother. She asked to go on BTMRR so I took her without really thinking. She loved it! Giggled the whole time and told me it was the best day of her life so of course we went right over to Splash Mountain. She still talks about going on the "big rides" and I am forever the "cool aunt". :cool1:

I think your boys will love Splash Mountain. It is a colorful, cheerful ride that incorporates the element of surprise with the final drop. They may like BTM also, but it seems to throw you around a little more. At this age, I'm not sure they will like it nearly as well. They will love it when they are older though!!;)

My son was 2 last year when he rode splash. He was laughing the whole ride even on the dip. He will be 3 in April and we are going for his birthday. He tells me he want to go on the big hill ride.

Ds who is now 5 loves both of these DD who is now 4 wont go near them.

DS4 went on both of these rides for the first time in December and loved them! If you're not sure how your kids will react, maybe start with Goofy's Barnstormer. If they love that, they'll probably love the Splash the BTMRR too.

Have fun!
