Too Soon For 2005 rate watch thread?

Yep--ENT for entertainment, APH for annual passholders, FAN for fan club...

Got AAA rate of $255 for club level Feb 5-8. Pool view was $199/AAA. Still wondering whether club level is worth extra $50/nite

FrannyK - for us it depends on how many in the room - we eat breakfast in the lounge every morning, stop and pick up water bottles, iced tea, or soda whenever we walk by, enjoy a cocktail or 2 and some nibbles in the evening, and we usually rent a cabana at 1/2 price (we were only around for the evening cookies once, but they were good) -so it's worth it to us, if there are 3 or 4 of you, then $12-$15 per person isn't much if you're around for the lounge offerings.

Bjakmom: There are 4 of us, husband and I, 2 teens--now that I think about the cost of club level PER PERSON it doesn't seem too bad. I rented a cabana for a day so I know I saved over $50 that day being on club level. My DH wouldn't be interested in the breakfast but he could take advantage of everything else. The kids and I will enjoy everything we can I'm sure. The waters/sodas will definitely come in handy--are they available in the lounge 24 hours? Does it ever "close?"

Thanks for helping me wash away the guilt of club level LOL.

FrannyK - don't want to "hijack" the rates thread, but I seem to remember that they close the lounge at night (don't know what time, but I definitely remember seeing the doors closed and locked) - if you start a new thread with this question I'm sure you'll get a more definitive answer from someone who's been recently. My DS(15) and older DDs all loved the lounge - DS even borrowed a few CDs and watched a little TV there - next trip he opted for his own room (bringing friends) over Club - we're really going to miss it !!:smooth:

No discounts at all when I am looking (March 24 - 26), not even AAA. Anyone else getting nervous? I bought the 2 year annual pass last summer, but if there are no discounts, the price just seems too high to me. I have started looking at the alternatives.

I must say I can't justify almost $300/night for mid-March - I'm hoping something comes out soon! ?

I wasn't happy paying $150/night this past March compared to 2003 when I got a $99/night rate. I certainly don't want to pay double that! If something doesn't come down the pipe, we will probably just skip Universal... :(

Just booked a standard room at RPR for January 1st for $215 and January 2-7 for $159 (AAA rate).

I just checked again for my dates 3/30 - 4/2 and there was nothing yet. I made reservations at rack rate ($294/night) But at that price we may only stay one night at HRH. I'll get something close by for the first night and stay the last night at Port. It would save me at least $400 and we could still take advantage of two days worth of FOTL passes...

I think we are all getting a little nervous! This will be our first on-site stay and I want it to be 5 nights. I have ressies for AAA at RPR from Feb 21-26 for just over 200/night. Still very high in my book. I am, at the very least, hoping for something under 200/night--taxes included. Am I living in a fantasy world? I read a thread about orangevacations.com and checked it out. Ressies came up for 187/night, but I know nothing about them. Anyone heard of or used them?

Hang in there, everyone - we were all worrying last year, too - they didn't release any discounts for this year until mid-late November. Then a week or two later Hotelkingdom had a sale for January and I switched a room over to their rate (216.00 club) - don't think we'll see it that low this year, though, but keep your fingers crossed.:smooth:

d4est- never heard of orangevacations.com, but did read on another thread that they require your credit card # just to check availability - I've never been asked for that, so I would look into them carefully.

Its so funny, I just checked the 2004 discount rate thread and saw that the discounts came out around Nov 12-13.

Bjakmom, we arent going MLK weekend this year, we are going the following weekend to coincide with the AFC championship game. GO PATRIOTS!!!

It will be much quieter at the pool MLK weekend without us!!!..

Patty

Thanks for the reminder, Patty ! I'll begin checking towards the end of the week.

We won't be going MLK weekend either, we're going the weekend after you are, 28th-30th at HRH, 30th-1st at BWV for DS's 16th b'day celebration - DS is bringing a buddy, but DH and I are leaving the rest of the crew behind this trip - time alone !!!! -We're not staying club level this trip, the boys want a separate room, so I think we'll skip the cabana, too.

Your group will have to keep the cabanas hopping !!! - do you have #10 again ?!! Enjoy the game and try not to make too much noise !!;)

I booked my stay for the same week next year as I have this year. May 23-29. So far, The best rate that I can do is AAA rate 179.20 plus tax. Well if last year is any indication as someone above has pointed out . These(ent, fan, aph) rates will be out approximately nov 12-13. Well , I checkout my last years posts for myself. And according what I wrote. Not all of my days were at the best available rates until March, 31:04.(This is the date my rates dropped and I was able to drop the ent rate and trade it in for the APH rate.)--last may my dates were 24-28 Then I wound up paying 119 plus tax per night.

Not that I believe I will get such yummy rates this time around. But I do hope the rates will not be to far off.

I hope this might help for those of you that are planning vacations for the same time period as my self.

Thanks for the reply. The post you are refering to was mine. I was surprised about the credit card, so I went no further.
