Me, my mum and 2 cousins (will be 9 and 6) are going to WDW for the first time in August.
I don't think I'll get back anytime soon so I really want to make sure we get the most out of this trip without burning us all out!
We have 14 day park hoppers, but are only going for 12 nights (we arrive on the 17th and leave on the 29th). We also have the regular dining plan.
I'm seriously so excited for this trip that I haven't been able to sleep the last couple of nights LOL.
I'd LOVE if any of you could take the time to read through the plan I've provided. I've looked at easywdw crowd calendar and planned our days around that.
I can book ADRS on Feb 19th, so they aren't booked yet but hopefully I'll be able to get them!
I thought I'd post it in this sub forum as the other ones are a bit daunting lol, and u fellow UKers are lovely!

Monday 18th August (we arrive the night before at around midnight) - sleep late, get up and spend the day at the resort pool. On the evening go to Epcot and do our 3 FP+ and then TS dinner at Garden Grill at 7. Illuminations is at 9, do you think that will give us enough time to eat?

Tuesday 19th - Go to AK for opening and try to get some of the big attractions done first thing and a show. Lunch at Tusker House at about 12/12.30. Back to the resort for pool/nap. Spend the evening at MK and have QS there, and do our 3FP+.

Wednesday 20th - Get to MK for opening and try and do most of Fantasy Land. Either do Crystal Palace for lunch or QS (is CP better for lunch or dinner?) Go back to resort for break. Then back to MK for the evening and do our 3 FP+ then.

Thursday 21st - Epcot for opening and do some of the big attractions and whatever else the kids want to do. Have a QS meal for lunch and then use our 3FP. Back to the retort for pool time, then O'hana for 7pm before heading back to the resort for an early night.. I think the kids will be exhausted by this point!

Friday 22nd - HS on the morning. Back go resort for pool time, then back to HS. Do our 3FP+ and then do the Fantasmic dinner package at Hollywood & Vine at 6.30, then watch Fantasmic at 8.30.

Saturday 23rd - Sleep in late (hopefully!! Lol) and head to AK once we wake up and do our 3 FP+, do a TS lunch at Rainforest Cafe and watch a show. Head back to the resort and grab swimming stuff and go to Typhoon Lagoon. QS dinner and then movie at the resort.

Sunday 24th - HS at opening and do TS at SciFi Diner for lunch. Back to the resort for a break, and a nap before heading to MK and hopefully stay until midnight (schedule FP+ for MK).

Monday 25th - sleep in late. Do Blizzard Beach once we're all up. Head to Epcot in the evening where we will do Via Napoli as a TS dinner and use 3FP+.

Tuesday 26th - MK early where we will do CRT breakfast (hopefully will be able to get the first slot, which means we will get in before park opening). Do attractions until lunch time then head back to resort for QS lunch and pool/nap. Head back to MK on the evening and do our 3 FP+ and then the Wishes Desert Party at 9pm.

Wednesday 27th - Sleep in late and then once up head to DTD. TS lunch at T-Rex. Back to the resort for pool/nap and then head to MK in the evening.

Thursday 28th - Epcot in the morning with a QS lunch. Maybe head straight to MK and do our 3FP+, before going back to the resort to freshen up. Dinner at Chef Mickeys and then the Pirate and Pals cruise.

Friday 29th Home!

Sorry for any typos, I've quickly read it back but I'm sure I've missed some! So do you think this is ok or too much? The 6year old still has an afternoon sleep (and he lives in Ireland where it's cooled, so I'm thinking in the Florida heat he will definitely need a sleep lol, so that's why I've scheduled afternoon breaks every day) x

Are you staying onsite as you seem to be doing a lot of travelling backwards and forwards? My youngest child found it exhausting and we had to stay in a few nights after returning to the pool in the evening. It might be wise to consider a chill-out day of no parks but just an evening meal?

you might struggle to sleep late on the first morning due to the time difference, we find we are up early all of us. We like to get up and out and doing stuff but we all are quite tired early in the evening.

We're staying at CSR yes.
I know deep down that we should have a total rest say, but I hate the thought of wasting a days ticket lol, agh! Definitely something to consider though, thank you.

Well I was hoping to get the Lynx bus to a Walmart, so if we're up early that might be the perfect time. Then we could come back and do the pool and maybe the 6 year old might nap before the evening. :)

You have mentioned going to the Disney waterparks but only as a part day trip. Might it be better to head to them at the beginning of one day and spend most of the day there/head back later afternoon for a nap? That could then count as a bit of a rest day as you aren't up walking all over, all day.

It sounds a great plan but I do think it's quite ambitious with the children. You state the 6 year old still sleeps in the afternoon - is he not at school? Sorry, being nosey. If this is the case, then unless you hire a pushchair for him, I think he might struggle. My DD2 will be 6 when we go and I am seriously thinking of hiring a pushchair the odd day for her - not every day, but perhaps when we are going to be out late, or if we've had a particularly arduous day the day before etc. She isn't a good walker now - complains a lot if we are out for the day and do a fair bit of walking - nothing by Disney standards either! :rolleyes1 Whereas my DD1 will walk for miles and rarely complains!

Agree about the early wake up on the first day, even with a late bedtime, your body clocks will wake you up, so make the most of it.

Have to say, what with pre planning ADRs (and the new charge if you do not cancel within so long before reservation), and the new pre booking of FPs. It is really hard for a young family - sometimes with young children, the plan just goes out of the window. Not such an easy task with all the pre-booking required . I see the definite downside of WDW as having to plan to within an inch of your life if going at a busy time :sad2:.

As an alternative to a Walmart shop (for which you would need to get a taxi), it may be worth looking at Garden Grocer who will deliver orders over $40 (I think) for a small charge. Could be worth ordering bulky items such as packs of water (24 bottles probably cost less than two or three bought on site), other drinks, cereal-worth including some paper plates/bowls on the order, crisps/snacks etc.

Disney will usually keep your order until you arrive then bring it to your room.

Just thought that this transportation wizard may be useful for you as well to get to the various Disney parks and hotels.

Yes he's in school but he lives in Ireland (me and my mum will fly to Disney from Shannon - Ireland with the kids) , and as this is his second year he finishes about 1.50pm and then comes home and has a nap. Last year in his first year at school I think he finished around 1.30am. Next year he will do a full day (3pm finish). I've told my cousin (his mum) to try and cut out the naps to make it easier on us lol!

I was contemplating a pushchair but I think he'll be too heavy! I'm a bit of a weakling and my mums not much better lol x

Ah I see! I totally understand, my DD1 has never been one for suffering with tiredness (despite not sleeping properly until almost 5 - another story!), but poor DD2 is totally different. She has struggled since starting school really - long days for a littlie! They are all different .

I am not sure if it's the same, as I am sure pushchairs will be different, but when we we went to DLP for a week in June 12, we did lots and lots of walking and late nights. DD2 was in the pushchair but by the end DD1 was in pieces - her trainers gave her a blister (despite being well worn in), so we had little breaks where she jumped in the pushchair instead for half hour or so! She was 7 (I think) then and she is a tall girl. We didn't find it too hard to push and we actually saw other families doing the same thing - so didn't get any funny looks! But the pushchairs at DLP are very robust - almost like a wheelchair type thing tbh! :rolleyes1 It's worth having a look when out there if he does get really tired.

Definitely something to consider! I think they're quite expensive to rent in the parks though aren't they?
I think you can rent through a company (which will deliver to your resort if staying on site) and pay a lot less and have the option of taking it back to your hotel.
Aghh I don't know what to do lol x

Yes, you are correct. I don't know much about the companies but they do deliver and collect yes - probably better if you were thinking of having for a longer duration.

I was just thinking if you found yourselves really tired one day, just as easy to hire one at WDW for the day. You can return it, keep receipt, and then if you go back later in the day, just re-hire using your receipt.

I think children sometimes surprise us, especially when they are excited, they often don't think about the tiredness. Failing that, go buy them some candy floss/sugar sweet thing and that will keep them going :lmao:!

Good luck choosing your ADRs - very exciting time :goodvibes

Haha yea I like the sugar idea!
It is, I work Monday - Friday so I'm going to have to get up early to make them :D

My youngest was 5 when we went and we took a pushchair for her. In most of the photos, she is asleep in it!:rotfl: It was a lot easier than having to contend with a tired child - it also meant we could carry on and let the older girls have fun.

If the 6 year old is used to naps, it would definitely be worth considering hiring a pushchair.

I would plan to make the most of the time difference and hit rope drop the first few days as you will likely be up anyway. You can get so much done in the early hours the park is opened compared to later on.

When we took our kids, in the August heat, they were just turned 5 and 6 1/2. We managed without a stroller the whole time and each one was carried in from the bus/boat once. My dad was with us and did that as we aren't quite so indulgent. You are out there for long enough that taking a few extra rests during the day and even heading back to the hotel for naps isn't going to stop you seeing everything you want to see.

Sorry OP - just wanted to pick up on this....

Joolz - DD2 will be 7 - bit embarassing taking a pushchair but it might be worth it I guess? To be fair, it's another 18 months away so she could have a sudden surge in wanting to walk more everywhere - as she's not 6 yet it's hard to know :confused3:lmao:. We never use a pushchair at home and haven't for years but the walking involved, even at DLP is huge. I am now considering just taking our old Maclaren (in loft) on the airline - wonder if I'd get charged considering the age she will be? Don't think she'll be that comfortable but will fit in it - just - will save her legs at least :blush:.

I might consider it nearer the time. I am sure we'll end up having to rent even if just now and again, so if I can get away with taking one FOC on the airline I'd rather do that, at least then it's there.

Was your DD2 around 7 when you went? How did she cope with all the walking? DD1 isn't an issue tbh.

Hi Patsy, I've answered you on your other post. But just to add - do whatever makes your trip run smoothly. I would not give a flying fig what anyone else thought if my DD wanted to be in a pushchair - nobody knows me there :confused3

Thank you hun :flower3:

I am really just pushing it around in my 'planning' head. I am sure by 7 that she will be able to walk without complaining every five mins .

Hope you are getting on well with your planning. I am just waiting for April for Disney and direct flights!! It will be an expensive month I think ;).

There is also a "Spar" type shop at the HESS garage opposite Downtown Disney where you can pick up some of the basics, although you would still end up lugging stuff back on the bus from DTD.

The only other thing I worry about with a pushchair is that he's a tall, heavy boy! I'm going to ask my cousin to weigh and measure him to see if he'd fit in the strollers that you can rent from companies outside the park..as I think they have a weight limit.
