Alright, so I apparently made too many ADRs for our upcoming trip in October (according to my mother and sister). So, I'm going to need to cancel one but I can't decide which one to cancel. I've heard good things about both restaurants, Citrico's and Jiko.

Just to mention, I am vegan and my husband is vegetarian. The two others in our party are omnivores, and one of them is lactose intolerant. So, which one is better for those with dietary restrictions and allergies? Which one has the better food and atmosphere? I'll admit that I originally planned to eat at Citrico's for the atmosphere and not necessarily for the food, but I need some help picking which one to let go!

Thanks in advance, guys. :)

I dont think I would go to Jikos if you have vegetarians and vegans...The meat and fish selections are to die for! They do have limited selections, but everytime I go I always get the meats.
Maybe call WDWD and ask if they provide vegan/vegatarian selections and which one they would think fits you better..

I would go to Jiko if I had to choose between those two (I'm a vegetarian).

However, if you want a great meal and need to slide down the expense I would cancel both of those and go to Sanaa which is also at the Animal Kingdom hotel, but on the DVC side (villas). It is a great place for vegetarians and non vegetarians alike.

Vegan here - I'd pick Jiko. Somewhere yesterday I saw a picture of the vegan entree they had and it looked to die for. They have a vegan menu as well.

Thanks! I actually have an ADR for Sanaa, too! I've heard lots of great things about it, especially from vegans and vegetarians.

I saw that too! It was the Chakalaka, right? It looked delicious! I'm curious as to what the tofu dish from Citrico's looks like, and if it's even vegan or could at least be made vegan. I haven't heard too much about Citrico's for vegans, come to think of it.

Thanks everyone so far for the advice!

I agree with this, and am not a vegetarian. Actually some of the vegetarian options are what I'm really thinking about ordering my next trip there, they all sound so good.

Yes that was it. It looked fantastic. Hmm. Now you got me curious. Let me see if I can find anything on Citricos for Vegans.

Seared Tofu - Zucchini and Eggplant Ratatouille, Roasted Mushrooms, lentils and sun dried tomato puree $23.00

Ok - that sounds totally vegan. I'd definately ask, but I'm sure it can be veganized if not.

I can't find much out there. Hmm..........I don't know. They both sound awesome. Can't you cut out something else, lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OOH so they do have vegan menus!? That's great! I'm gonna check that out myself.
JIKO JIKO JIKO!

LOL, well it is was JUST up to me I'd cut out California Grill since I've already done it, but I'm locked into a dinner date with my sister and her fiance. Boooo...I mean, I am always happy to do a dinner with them, I just wish they had picked something else.

But you do have me thinking about cutting out something else. My other ADRs include Boma, Sanaa (I really don't want to exclude either of those), Kona Cafe for breakfast and Kouzinna. I've heard lots of mixed things about Kouzinna but everyone else in my party is really looking forward to that one. Hmm, kind of a pickle I am in. I am really interested to hear what people say about the vegetarian entree at Citricos, if anyone has even had it.

I'd cut out Kona for breakfast, I mean.............breakfast eh (I'm not a breakfast person, lol). And I'd skip Kouzzina any day for either of those. Don't drop Saana! They have a vegan menu.

Ok - All this talk of Jiko and Sanaa got me thinking. I was going to possibly do 'Ohana by myself when the family went to Hooters. But, I think I'm going to either do Jiko or Sanaa by myself. Both are quieter, and less conspicuous. Easier to do by myself. No stressing if Chef TJ is there. They both have a vegan menu. I'm going to do it up by myself and enjoy it!

So now...............Jiko or Sanaa - decisions decisions. I might do Jiko. The dip with bread and the Chakalaka sound good..........but Sanaa with all the samplers sounds fabulous too! HELP!

Jiko is one of my favorite restaurants, not just at WDW but in general. I've never had anything bad there and there are quite a few good vegetarian items. I think there is only 1 vegetarian entree, but there are some great starters than can be combined to replace an entree.

I had the seared Tofu vegetarian entree at Citricos back in September 2009 and it was the best meal I ate the entire trip. Don't know if it is suitable for Vegans though but it definately is to die for!

Jiko is fantastic too. If it were up to me I'd cut Kona Cafe:)

Oh man...decisions, decisions! Lol...well, depending on what time of day you go to Sanaa, you might still be able to see some animals roaming around, right? Their portions seemed awesome to me, since I don't eat a whole lot (I have a tiny stomach or something, my eyes are bigger than my stomach). The sampler plates reminded me of tapas...I love those. I've heard lots of good things.
On the other hand, so many people here claim that Jiko is fabulous and a must-do, I've seen it on the boards on a daily basis. If you're doing it by yourself, I'd say treat yourself to the signature restaurant and indulge a little bit!

Oh man, you two didn't make this easy for me! I think what's going to happen, is that I am going to end up cancelling Kona Cafe and keep the signatures. It's too difficult to let either of them go!
