too many mnsshp scheduled in one week

4 is a lot. But they schedule so many because they are popular and they make lots of extra money off of them. It's something that has to be considered when traveling during MK party season. Especially a holiday weekend - that is when they will really try to pack 'em in.

But when you hear the same complaints over and over and the same venting over and over it just gets a bit tedious.

Fair enough, but to that friend complaining, would you haul off and say, "Well you shouldn't have done XYZ in the first place, that was your first mistake" or "You should have known better!" Or would you just politely excuse yourself? To us, we may see the same complaint over and over (though this is the first time I have personally seen this complaint - could be just wasn't on my radar) but to the person complaining, they probably haven't seen this complaint over and over - it's fresh and new to them, because it's their frustration.

I think (at least for myself) the snarkiness ensues here because it seems even a rudimentary search of the board would have yielded either the answer that would have helped the OP initially or lead them to an existing thread now where other people are already discussing the issue.

I think the OP knows. It's just that this year they don't plan on attending the party and are restricted as to when they can go to MK at night. It may seem "unfair" because it's a frustration but Disney isn't scheduling so many parties just because they want to ruin people's vacations. They are scheduling them because there is a demand for them.

Exactly. I'd rather see more parties, thus hoping to spread out the crowds a bit. I can't imagine the crowd with only 1-2 parties per week.

My point is really that these responses don't really help the OP, who plainly stated they just wanted to vent, and therefore just kind of come off as an opportunity to point out that you know more about Disney than they do. To what end?

ETA: I apologize if my post came off snarky. I was perhaps a bit too harsh, but I've just seen so many threads go like this, and while I've been tempted to make similar comments in the past, I've been trying to be more mindful, lately, of whether the words I have to say are helpful to the person with the problem/issue/desire to vent.

You are right, they may not change the situation, but they may help other people who are reading. I honestly did not see snarky responses. I did see people being honest in regards to the OP situation. Many of us tried to tell the OP how to adjust so that they made the best of it, and believe me, that morning and early afternoon in the MK will be a bonus.

Look, most of us know about the parties. We know that hours change. WE do all we can to warn folks to check date, look at the prior year's data, but that is all we can do. If someone is comfortable enough to vent on this forum, they know the drill.....there is plenty of information available that they chose not to look at.

i will be in disney oct 9 to 15
there are 4 parties scheduled while im there
i think that is crazy it just seems unfair
just had to vent

It is the biggest reasons why we stopped listening to the "summer is miserable" crowd and tried it for ourselves. We would have every night at MK available to us if we should desire. FWIW Summer was amazing and I don't foresee us ever going back in the fall time again.

But OP isn't new here, and most people who come here do so to research, and OP has even been to the parties before, so isn't completely unaware of it. If you've been there before, and know a particular event falls when you plan to be there, go the extra mile and see when that event is.

Jeez, it seems like the first response to these threads is always "OMG DID YOU DO YOUR RESEARCH YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN OMG?!?!?!"... the fact is not everybody is as obsessed with researching and planning as most of us are, and I am not going to fault someone for being frustrated or tell them they should have gone back for the past year or five and researched historical dates, maybe created a planning algorithm that would have predicted party dates for the next three years. The OP is frustrated and as they said, just wanted to vent. I get it.

This! IT really is impossible to just magically know that you can't just book a holiday an go to disney world and enjoy disney world.
It really is one of the down sides of the vacation that so much research and planning has to go in to it.

That is so true... I happen to ENJOY the planning, but when I start to explain all that I do to most people, to plan a trip to Disney, and even just the key points they should consider (like something as basic as learning the FP+ system, and knowing the dates that ADRs and so on open up) they look shocked. We here on the DIS are a teeny tiny fraction of a percentage of most people who go to Disney.

We have the same issue with MVMCP during Jersey week in November. There's a party on Mon, Tues, Thur, Fri.............. I agree it is alot of parties. You're basically making the MK a premium park for 4 out of 5 days.............seems like a money grab.

This trip is the first for my brother and his family and because of this schedule we only have Wednesday to spend a full evening in the MK, albeit evening in the MK is pretty much just Wishes....... but I do enjoy Wishes :-). From a planing perspective we didn't plan with the party dates in mind (fortunately our ADR's weren't affected either). Monday will be our first MK day and since I've planned for RD......being out by 7pm will actually work out for us. We're not doing MK on Tues or Thurs so no impact there................Friday we're attending the MVMCP so we do get the evening that day, at the cost of the tickets o_O. That leaves Wednesday.............for my wife and I Wed is going to be 4 parks in 1 day....day:-). For my brother and his family........they're gonna do a resort/pool day. With Wednesday being the only day for Wishes my wife and I were able to manipulate our 4 parks by having the MK be the last park. My brother and his family are going to meet us there in the evening.........so we do all get to see Wishes! We were lucky......our plan worked out............many folks don't get this lucky.

It's a shame..........

What ever happens I wish the OP a wonderful vacation......:D

Of course it is a money grab. That is why a business exists, to make money. Try to keep in mind that before Disney had all of these parties the Magic Kingdom wasn't open late at night anyway. It isn't as if it was open until 10 or 11 pm, and then they cut the hours back to have parties. The Magic Kingdom didn't used to be open late enough to have fireworks, everyone flooded Epcot because that was the only show.

i'm not looking at the celendar but closer to halloween I remember looking for a party date thinking WOW, it's almost every night for those last 2 weeks.

If it's the same vent by the same poster, that's one thing. But it's different people. This sounds like something you need to vent about elsewhere, and perhaps let the OP have her own vent. :)

There is no such thing as a rudimentary search. This message board is HARD to search and get good results. And she said she booked in January; a rudimentary search *in January* would have easily yielded posts about the previous year's Halloween parties? Doesn't sound rudimentary to me.

I've had really no problems searching and getting answers from multiple sources.

And I booked my plans in early February and included a MNSHPP during our stay from the very first draft of my plans. I looked at last years dates and used that info to manage expectations and plan. Seeing as though my husband and I haven't been in about 5 yeas, never to a MNSHHP and never to WDW with kids, I think back in Febraury I probably qualified as a Disney planning rookie. Yet, I knew enough to check.

And aside from the delays in posting park hours, delayed EMM info and the ongoing ROL debacle, there's been little that has surprised me - because I seek out answers to my questions before I plan.

Well, the vent could be extended to other events too. Food and Wine is running for the longest time in its existence this year, almost 2 whole months. So combine MNSSHP frustration with the overcrowding of the World Showcase for F&W (and all the drunkards that go with it) and yeah, it can be annoying. However, Disney sells a good amount of tickets to the party and F&W is just getting bigger by the year. So they're not going to stop expanding until they see a loss and maybe not even then.

ETA: You also get out of a vacation what you put into it. If you plan a Disney vacation blindly, you're bound to be miserable as you may not know everything going on (ride closures, special events, etc). In 2014 we were able to swing a trip that was only a month away (yes, a full Disney vacation planned and executed in a month... rooms, airline, tickets, MNSSHP tickets, dining ressies, etc) but we knew what we had to do to make it a great trip and we had one. Many others don't want to put the time in, and those are some of the people that come on here and "vent".

I want to do to WDW during Jersey Week (not this year) so I peeked at the hours for this year and was SHOCKED to see so many party days. It didn't even dawn on me to expect that. So I feel the OP's pain. How about if I hadn't have looked and been shocked when hours were released for next year?
