Too many funerals

Really. Lots of previously healthy people dying in the last 15 months. Not from covid. Look into it, you might learn something. Google the number of healthy soccer players who have died in the last year. It is crazy. Lots and lots of excess deaths in the last year +. Not from covid.
Just looks like another debunked conspiracy theory. So prevalant these days.

In 2013, my mother-in-law and father-in-law died 3 days apart from unrelated health issues. It was horrible. DH still won’t go to funerals if he can help it.

As we've aged, DH and I have realized how many people don't make it to their elder years. I'm the last one left in my family: my mother in a car accident (38), one brother died from lung cancer (48), another from COPD (59) and my step-brother from MS (63). One of our SIL's died from brain cancer in her mid-50s. Many of our military friends and classmates have also passed as well. DH came close himself at 57 with a heart attack resulting in a quad-bypass. An ICU nurse told me at the time that many men experience their major health issue in their 50s and women typically in their 60s. We refocused our health goals to try and extend our lives as much as possible. I personally aspire to be the stubborn old classy woman in all my grandkids' lives and business. :D (Of course, I'm going to need some grandchildren first for that to happen.)

All that needs to happen to not see or count something is not look, think on that a while.

People can give me all the dirty looks they want in stores for my face being covered but I am not changing, my family will never have to wonder if I did as much as I could. I'm up to vax4 and counting, bonus is it seems my autoimmune issues are settling down with them more than any biologic did so I am counting myself as blessed. New research seems to point to Epstein Barr causing LOTS of health issues as a person ages, Epstein Barr is nasty - I had mono when I was 14 from sharing a soda & for all I know that's why I have issues now and noone is really certain about the why or how things are what they are but what I DO KNOW 100% is I want nothing, zero zip nada, to do with willingingly adding this newfangled health wild card to the mix.

We've had quite a few losses too, it's been a very sad few years.

COVID does cause odd clotting; that was one of the first things I remember hearing about it (after the loss of smell). Remember COVID toes? I think it’s known you have a higher probability to die of clots after a COVID infection, even months after.
Yes. An acquaintance of mine just died of multiple blood issues that arose post Covid. I also know two women who had brain bleeds post Covid. A doctor friend of mine said Covid affects the blood and blood vessels.

Keep trying not to get it.

Lost my FIL in Nov. 2020 (age, kidney failure, diabetes, etc), a close family friend in May 2021 (unexpected, he was 72, blood clots post-covid), my good DISboards friend Clutter in Nov 2021 (at her desk at home- she should have retired this month and moved up here, so weird and sad), DH's close college friend died in Jan 2022 (also 72, COPD/complications), and I just learned that one of my closest college friends has lost his wife (61, breast cancer). I know that as you get older, more people to whom you are close die, but jeez, it's been a lot on top of everything else.
