I think its different for everyone. You have to ask yourself how much you think you can handle. We do 1 character meal a day and usually go for about 10 days. By the end of the trip I am "charactered out" so I know there is no way I could handle more than one a day. All that smilin' makes my face hurt:rotfl:

Seven character meals woul dbe too much for our family. We usually stick to one per trip. I say, since they appeal to you so much, keep more than one, but not one every day. I'd keep three at the most.

Mostly the character meals are buffets. So you are getting up to get your food. The characters come to your table, but you still have to stop eating, pose for photos, have your autograph book ready (if you have one) every time one comes to your table...Then there are trip to the bathroom. You'll also want to time your trips to the buffet between character visits...The whole thing is very hectic. They are frequently rather noisy. Fun, but not quiet or relaxing.

Until you've been to WDW, I think it's hard to appreciate all the crowds, noise, going, sensory overload, and rushing that you'll experieince on a trip to WDW. ALL DAY there are constantly things to see, smell, taste, hear, feel. Your senses are stimulated all day. It's a great feeling, but it can be very tiring. Add to that - you'll be on your feet - on concrete - ALL DAY LONG.

After a whole day of that, a nice quiet meal is a treat. Even at our QS meals we often find ourselves eating at odd times just to get some peace and quiet. We usually try to avoid noon meals like the plague. I'll hop into a place at 11:30 for a light lunch, and then an on-the-go snack around 3 or 4 pm. At 11:30 there are no lines and plenty of tables.

Having said that, many table service places at WDW, still have some form of entertainment, and there are also non-character buffets. Mexico has the boatride to view, Morocco has a belly dancer, Sci-fi has movies, Ranforest has moving animals and thunderstorms - almost all have exciting decor and people watching. So truly quiet meals are limited. Le Cellier is one of the few places tht has neutral decor and relatively quiet atmosphere. Perhaps that's the real reason why so many DISers love it so much.

I don't think that is to many but I would space them
out more because it seems that they are all lump together.
You can also check and see if there are duplicate characters
and drop the ones you are least interested in eating at.

I agree! We are going for 13 nights this Aug, and will be on the DxDDP, as well. We are doing alot of the ARD's you are, I just try and spread the charaters out a little bit.

Good luck! And have fun!

this is a personal preference issue. if you like character meals, then you're in good shape with your ADR's. we like character meals too, so we tend to schedule quite a few. to each his own....

I dont think you can ever have enough character meals.

My son was 7 when we went last August and we did at least one character meal every day on the dining plan. He loved it and I think he was looking forward to our meals.

I actually prefer the Character/buffet meals..mainly because my kids are not huge fans of waiting for table service in Disney..In the morning they are to excited to get into the park..the afternoon they don't want to stop and at night they are tired. I am on the deluxe dining for our upcoming trip in August...I am doing~

Hoop Dee Doo review-family style dinner w/show
Whispering Canyon-silly antics that I hope will entertain them
CRT-Dinner-Family style dinner
Chef Mickey-buffet
Teppon Edo- at least they can watch their food cooking
O'Hana- family style breakfast
Sci-Fi- They can watch cheesy movies until their food comes ;)
Brown Derby- (The one restaurant they will have to wait)******
Tusker breakfast- Buffet
1900 Park- family style/buffet

I find these restaurants to be convenient with kids...Have a great trip! :thumbsup2

I find character meals sort of uncomfortable. I can't go up to the buffet without thinking I'll miss the characters. I can't stuff my face with food because a character could be coming any minute. And I'm pretty shy so I don't really know what to say to them when they get there. We'll be doing maybe one princess meal.

But if you enjoy them, by all means, character meal away!

You can't have too many character meals...especially not with a 4 yo! We did one a day in Oct and it was perfect! And we did them for breakfast or lunch. A great way for the kids to see the characters without standing in lines in the heat and a great break during the day. They're a lot of fun, for kids and their parents! And if you happen to miss a character (taking child to bathroom, etc) they'll bring the character back around if you ask.

Have a great trip!

Don't drop 1900 Park Faire or Chef Mickeys...we took my DD11 to Park Faire for the first time this year...I wished we had done it when she was younger as well! And Chef Mickeys is one of our favorites...your schedule looks good with the spacing. Plus, seeing the characters at a meal means you don't have to wait in a line in the park for an autograph and photo! Enjoy!:tinker:

It looks like they're spaced out enough to be enjoyable and all of your ADR's look pretty good. Have fun!

It's totally a personal preference thing. I, personally, think your dining choices look lovely and I am very jealous...:) And rememver, your little one is only little once...I'm sure he'll have a ball! :thumbsup2

I definitely wouldn't give up Chef Mickey's! You can't beat having the Fab Five in one place! I'd rather do all character meals than to wait in long lines to meet characters. :thumbsup2

With that many sit downs, you may end up feeling like you spent your entire vacation inside a restaurant. With waiting for a table (cause you have to wait even with ADRs) each meal could take 90 minutes or more.

I think you will have a GREAT time! Especially with your DD4. Perfect age for char meals! But rethink dropping 1900 Park Fare bfast. It's my very favorite! If you DD4 is into Alice and Pooh, she will be in heaven. In fact if you had to drop one, I'd say drop Crystal Palace. I am never impressed with that place. The food is mediocre at best, and I always feel rushed there.

THanks... I really think that having my daughter see the characters at the meals will lighten up the course of the day and give us more time for rides and attractions
