This was first posted on the "Families" Board but maybe more appropriate here since it deals with our arrival at the WL - sorry for the duplicate post.

O.K. We are FINALLY leaving early tomorrow morning after 9 months of Disboard obsession, packing, planning, ADRing, praying for good weather. We are driving down for a 9 night stay. I'm afraid they are gonna roll their eyes (at best) when we come barrelling in the doors of the WL. Baggage count so far:

1 midsized suitcase of clothing each for DH, myself, DD (7), DD (2)
1 Duffle Bag of towels, sunscreen, bathing suits, goggles for the pool.
1 large rolling duffle bag with in room snacks and quick breakfast goodies
1 duffle bag diapers, wipes, ointments
1 backpack with our toiletries & medicine
1 midsized suitcase with things for the room (power strip, night light, travel sized dish detergent & clothes detergent, just to name a few.) I like to call this bag: "I would've never known to pack this kind of stuff if not for the disboards."
1 tote bag with my kids' travel stuff for the car ride (crayons, books, travel games etc.)

So that's 10 bags! Not to mention the camera bag, my purse, the smaller diaper bag, an empty (small) soft-sided cooler for the parks... UGH 14 bags now!

Oh yeah, my pillows (can't get a decent sleep without them)

OH MY - The pak-n-play (yes, I know I could get one on site but I've read a few posts that suggested I should just bring my own)

DANG - the stroller

Man - a couple of cases of bottled water

I can't consolidate bags because they'd be too big to carry! I've really tried to ask myself if all of these things are necessary - I think they are. It's too late to turn back now. Everything is done, the car will soon be loaded!

Am I crazy or are there any other big packers out there? Please tell me I'm not the worst! I guess we'll tip big and smile a lot! I hope there's space left to sleep in our room!

Did I mention I have a VW Beetle? Just kidding!

O.K. fellow Dis-ers. This is my last post before our big trip. Thanks for the info, support and FUN!

You are now an official DISBOARDS member ;)

Although it does sound like a lot of bags, i can totally appreciate everything that you are bringing. It sounds like you are well prepared and I know we all would love an update from you on your family's return!

:lmao: :lmao:

Sounds reasonable to me. I fully (and I do mean FULLY) loaded our Chevy Tahoe for 3 of us for one week. You're doing just fine.:thumbsup2

Have a wonderful time!:)

Wow, you leave tomorrow! That's so exciting. :goodvibes:

I've seen people with *wayyyyy* more bags than you just listed, so breath deep and have a great trip! :wizard:

WOW is all I can say!

We are flying and will do 1 checked suitcase with the clothes for all 4 of us (granted, I do laundry 1 day we are there....we are back at the resort so the kids can nap anyway...I do laundry then). Then DH and I will each have a carryon with diapers/wipes and snacks. And a change of clothes for each of us. We ship down a box a week before with a pack of diapers, 2 packs wipes, non-perishable snacks, laundry detergent/dryer sheets, etc).

And we don't use a pack-n-play - we share beds (boys are 1.5 and 4). The stroller gets gate checked.

Amazing how much stuff we all use in a span of a week, huh?

And here I was so proud of myself for not overpacking like I always do.
Now you have me convinced I need the extra stuff:lmao:

1) Somebody call Mayflower Van Lines.
2) Seriously, though, I have seen more bags in a family.
3) I once toted 21 bags (that's right, 21 bags) for a DVC family.
. . . 3:00am in the cold
. . . from room down elevator to van to main building to bus loading zone

Thanks for the support! I do feel the need to clarify:

Maybe the midsized suitcases that I mentioned aren't truly midsized. They are standard carry - on size for air travel. So, four of those. That's not too bad right????!!!!!!

I'm going to show this to my husband! While I'm the master of organization before we take off - he's definately the one who packs the car and gets the brunt of the actual "carrying luggage in and out of hotels." Seems like it's often in the rain.

Wow...I don't remember ever thaking that much stuff when we went on family vacations when I was younger. 2, maybe 3 suitcases for the 5 of us, 1 small cooler for drinks and 1 larger one for food. That was pretty much it. We never got fancy stuff like crayons or coloring books. We had to look out the window and play the alphabet game. When we got to Q we would usually stop since they only time you saw Q on the highway was in a Dairy Queen sign and my dad loved his dipped cones :rotfl:

Now when I travel I fly and I take one mid sized suitcase and my backpack and that is it. I try to pack light.

Ha! Dh thought we were moving into All Star Movies in 2006. I NEEDED all that stuff.

It's a better trip for everyone if they just let me pack for every possible contingency.

If I don't use half of it then at least I had it, it's only when I DON'T have something that I need it.

Dh has become a genius at packing the mini-van. Honestly how he does it is a mystery and he no longer says a word about it, at least where I can hear it.
Have a wonderful trip and safe drive to the World!

For my up coming trip I'm packing: 3 suitcases,2 kids roller bags, one carry on bag for me, my purse, a stroller. Hopefully there will enough room for juice boxes and water.

In 2006, we packed almost that much too and we were flying. That's when SW allowed 3 checked bags per person. We had two strollers. DH even packed a suitcase for bottled water. We told the airport people it was for the baby:rotfl2: Extra diapers, baby formula everything I needed just in case since we did not have a rental car.

I am with you on the pack n play. DS liked to put his mouth on everything and there was no way I was going to use a strange one.

For this upcoming trip there will be 3 kids, hopefully only one in diapers and I am already trying to organize what I can take, since SW now only allows 2 bags (at least for the moment)
