Too late to change dates with 40% off code?

We are currently booked at Contemporary for Oct.21-26 with a 40% off code. The code had to be used by March 31st. We have now decided that due to the money, we would rather stay at Pop from Oct.19-26. Does anyone know if we can change our resort and dates and still keep the 40% off code? The dates at Pop are still inside the dates that the code was good for. Has anyone been able to do this?

I have the 40% off pin ...
Originally booked CBR for Oct. 22 - Oct. 28.
About two weeks ago I called and got a great CM that changed my dates to just Nov. 9th with no problems ... we are actually going Nov. 7-10 but the only date that was within the pin was the 9th so that is all I booked. I will wait to see if an ap rate comes out for the first two nights ... if so I will make a seprate resevation for those nights and perhaps add dinning too.
Hope that helps ...

Thanks, that gives me some hope.......

Anyone else been able to do this?

I made a change of room type 2 days ago with a pin code but kept my same dates. It had to go through someone else, so if they CM who first answers says it is not possible... just ask to speak to guest services.
It took some very polite asking but the change was made (well after the code "book by" date.

Did they have to refund your original deposit and charge you a new one?

I'm just afraid they might not do it since we will be downgrading from a deluxe resort to a value. Also we have two separate reservations because my parents are going with us too, so both of them will have to be changed.

I wish I could help with that, my guess is they will not have to cancel and re-book, but I could be wrong. I was upgrading instead (from a standard room to a club room..same dates, same resort), and they did not re-book. They just billed me the balance. Unless they rolled my payments onto the new reservation they must have kept the old one. (Ok, went and checked, my ressie # stayed the same.) , so i think they made the changes within my current reservation.

I wish I could help more, I would call and ask them for help. Other than one or two bad calls I have always had great CM's.

Wishing you luck! :)

You should be able to do this without a problem. As long as the dates fall within the dates on the code you should be fine. As always, this gets scary if you get a CM who doesn't really know what they're doing as this could cause a BIG problem losing the code. If a problem does happen it can be fixed, but it gets frustrating with the hoops you have to jump through to remedy such an unfortunate situation. Make sure you confirm everything with them if you go this route.

You will not have to cancel your reservation. They will simply change your reservation from CR to whatever other resort you choose and then they will have to submit a request for the refund. I did this 2 weeks ago and got my money back in a few days.

Regarding the 40% off, I'm sure that this will work for other Mods/Deluxes, but not sure about Value's. When I did bounceback, I had a choice of 20% off Values, 30% off mods/deluxes and 40% off DVC. If your PIN will allow 40% off a Value, then you should be good to go. The money you save regardless from downgrading will still be a good chunk of change coming back to you from CR.

Thanks for your help. Yes, my code was good for values, even the preferred rooms. I actually have a room only reservation also for Pop from Oct.19-21 because the five of us (4 adults, one infant) were going to cram into one room for those two nights in order to be able to stay at Disney two more nights. I was able to use the code for that reservation also. I guess I will just need to try to change the contemp. to Pop and then cancel my room only Pop reservation.

I had to cancel my vacation that I made with the Bounceback promo yesterday and the CM tried everything to get me to reschedule going so far as to ask if I planned on trying to come again next year. It gave me the sinking suspicion I'm not the only one having to cancel a trip this year. I think the CMs are instructed to do whatever they can to help keep your reservation. As for me, I could have definitely downgraded, or rescheduled my trip to other available dates.

Ahh......I hadn't thought about that. I bet lots of people are cancelling due to the economy. I know we wouldn't be able to go unless we do downgrade. We don't use credit cards so our entire trip has to be paid for by the time we go!

Cancellations arent as bad as you think. Of course the CM's want you to keep your res, once its cancelled and you change your mind you cant get it back. You can change the resort if its available but it wont be 40% off, thats for deluxe resorts

No, my 40% off was for any type of resort. I actually have two nights room only booked at Pop with my 40% code.:confused3

You obviously have access to information I don't, so no argument here. However, I have read several articles about Disney's plans to combat fewer vacationers in the coming months. Maybe they're all nonsense, but I myself am an example of a family having to cancel a trip this year due to the economy.

As far as keeping your coded reservation, you are absolutely right. Once it's expired and you cancel, it's gone. On the other hand, I have received 2 additional codes since the one I booked, one of which is still valid. Perhaps I'm just really, really lucky. Or, just possibly, people are canceling and reservations are down. I know a hard sell when I hear it. And that's what I was getting from the CM.

Also, there is no category restriction mentioned anywhere on my "new" 40% code. Just specific dates. I haven't tried to use it though, so again you may know about my code than I do.

I dont doubt a lot of people are cancelling but when you look at availabililty even 3 months down the road its very very very slim. Try finding something even close to thanksgiving too.

Well, we have the 40% off code also and it is for value, mod or delux. To try to save a little money we tried to switch to a value and we could have done it but she said there were no rooms left for that code. She said to keep trying and possibly someone would cancel between now and Oct. Our dates are Oct 19-26.

2 weeks ago, I cancelled our AKL room for 2 nites and just added to our rooms at POR. The CM cancelled our ressie's that were paid in full. It was on my credit card in 3 days. Then she added the 2 nites to my POR ressie with the 40% off code. I didn't have to pay for them yet, since I had the other 4 nites payed for. I was waiting for the AKL ressie to credit and now I am going to call and pay.

But, I'm from Wisconsin, and it looks like my airline (Midwest) is going to cancel my flight or go bankrupt. So I may be out of my money for airline tickets and we may end up driving, or try to find something out of O'Hare.

Oh, wow! I hadn't considered the possibility that there wouldn't be rooms available for the code. I just checked to make sure there were rooms open at all. Is your code the same one that had to be used by March 31st?

we booked Pop under the 40% off code that expired end of March, I have called 4 times to try to switch over to a mod and was told no go. All the rooms went during the promotion and I was told that if anyone cancels those rooms wont be re-cued back into the computer as "code discounted" as that promo has cancelled. I talk to guest services the last call a few weeks ago and she told me the same thing....

Were you told no go because no rooms were available or because they wouldn't let you change resorts with the code? I guess I was just hoping that some rooms were still available at Pop during that time with the code.

Yes, our code had to be used by March 31st. We'll still go, we just would have added and extra day or two. We may just stay off site first and last nights there. It would be easier to just stay at a value the whole time though. We will keep trying and see if we get lucky.
