When would it be too late to add ddp to a room only ressie??? We have pkg booked for Sept w/ddp but are now planning to go a day early & book room only & thinking about doing the deluxe for the one night if I can get everyone else on the same page (financially, lol). Would like to go ahead & book the rooms but would like to know how long before arrival I could wait to add dining??? It would be less than 45 days so I know it would all have to be paid upon booking.

You can add dining to a room only up to 3 days before check-in. Note that it will then change the reservation to a package and will require ticket purchase along with the package*. Since it changes it into a package, it then requires that you "go by" the "package rules" regarding payment and all that jazz, so if adding a dining plan after the 45 day mark, you would then be responsible for paying the cost of the dining plan right when you add it. Also, if you add it too late (less than a week or so out), they may tack on change fees as well (they can tack them on less than 45 days, but these are usually waived for upgrades. However, last minute changes often have a greater fee that is rarely waived).

*This is assuming it's not an AP ticketless package or a DVC member/rental reservation. For those types of reservations, additional tickets are not required, though with the AP package you must book at AP or rack rate and DVC would have to pay for the plan in full when it's added (no matter if it's within 45 days or not).

Thanks, that's the info I needed. It will be an AP ticketless pkg, have already priced it on the passholders site, just waiting to see if my two dd's can come up with the xtra dollars for their part if we add ddp, lol. I can swing the cost of 2 rooms right now but not for the ddp for 6 just yet...:scared1:

Also, going from a room only booking to a package will require you to book a package. Then you will want to cancel your room only.
The funds on your room only res will be reimbursed, not transferred to your new package. (Unless you paid on the room only res by check.)
