We've been on 3 cruises before but always during Jan/Feb. Is it too hot to cruise in June? We're thinking of a 5 night on the Dream with two Castaway Cay days. Thanks! :yay:

Don't forget it's always cooler on the ocean than on land. Personally, our reason for not cruising in the summer is because it's the hurricane season.

Of course it's a chance you take and most of the time would not be a problem. BUT, if one should arise the Captain would do his best to stay
out of the way therefore you may miss one or two of your scheduled ports.

If summer is the best time for you then I would vote to go and not worry about anything but having the best cruise ever. Best wishes.

The ship will probably be comfortable when moving, but the top decks will be very warm. CC will be hot, but you can cool off in the ocean.

We did the double dip last year and it was very hot there. It's great, because you are at the beach. But when you aren't in the water, you will feel the heat. That said, it was a great experience.

We cruise pretty much every summer. While it can be hot...no, it can be very hot, I wouldn't say it's ever been "too" hot. I have been on some cruises in Dec-Feb, that were too cold for me though. ;)

I've done the reverse: cruised in summer when the kids were young, now cruise in the winter for the price...bottom line: the things you do may change...but you'll still have a great time! For example, I never rented bikes at CC until I cruised in December... but did I have fun at CC in the past sitting in the water when it was super hot? You bet...in fact, a wonderful memory is floating in the water when the CM came by (in the water) with a floating cooler filled with ice and Konch Koolers...heaven
different temperatures, different activities, all good! imho

High 90's and brutal humidity. Pretty much like every time I've visited Florida in the summer.
We did the southern Caribbean cruise in June. It was in the 90's with at least 90% humidity pretty much every day. Definitely fits your description, but I'd do it again. There's always somewhere to get out (into air conditioning) or a shady spot with a breeze on the excursions.

It was 80 degrees in Mexico on January 9th this year. :)

By summer the Bahamas and Caribbean islands will be up to at minimum 90+ degrees with high humidity and oven like temperatures even in the shade. There will be daily rains that add to the humidity and rain forest feeling and breathing can be very challenging to do for folks with asthma.
You will want to wear water shoes when walking on the pool deck and standing in line for Aquaduck and other hot surface areas. Pack sunscreen, drink lots of water and avoid going out between the hours of 10 and 3 as this is the hottest and most significant time to sunburn. Many folks don't do this and end up with very bad burns that are not that fun for the rest of your cruise.

Even this past weekend on the Dream there were MANY people with sunburn that clearly did not heed the warnings to apply sunscreen religiously and frequently.
The good news is that there is plenty of air conditioning and places to stay cool on the ship. And be sure to pack Aloe gel or Solarcaine for sunburn relief...just in case.
And in the evening after the sun goes down, it cools to about 80 or so and the decks cool down too. This is when we like to swim and enjoy the water. :)

We have sailed in every month except March, July and August and live in Orlando where we are AP who wait until after 7 to go to the theme parks or really anything that would be unpleasant during the day.

We did Caribbean cruise in April and found the decks a bit cool with the wind for swimming (but I'm always cold). So assuming this won't be an issue in the summer.

We cruised the Fantasy in June a few years ago. Must have been towards the end because the kids
were out of school. Weather was perfect and it was a great cruise. It was the itinerary with Jamaica
Grand Cayman etc.

We also did the Southern Caribbean last summer late June and it was humid as heck.

It's too hot for us. We cruised one year in July and August (due to being given a free cruise in July and an extended family cruise in August where my brother needed a date when the kids weren't in school). Never again. The ship was nice and cool but the moment you hit port - crazy hot and humid.

Plus, I view it as why would I get away to somewhere warm when it's already warm at home? Of course, that's mainly because I live in the Great White North :cold:

You never know... We did last year's Double Dip on June 2 and it was pretty mild and overcast every day. The captain did a great job of sailing us away from the rain each day so that we didn't get rained out and that helped keep things pretty cool, as well. I was a little disappointed that we didn't have any really nice sunny days, but it actually was a good tradeoff to not have the intense 90-degree heat because I'm not a big fan of being sweaty all the time. It was definitely still warm enough for shorts and swimming!

Our first cruise was end of July. My youngest has a heart disease and has trouble with very hot/cold. We went to Universal before the cruise and he couldn't handle that while the sun was out (we didn't know how hot and humid it is in Florida in the summer). It was too hot in Nassau for him (we hadn't booked an excursion we were just walking around and he made it about an hour before we headed back to the ship). He couldn't handle being in the middle of the sail away party but was ok if we were on the edges where he could get a breeze. Other than those things he was fine- no troubles at all at Castaway Cay. Now if we are going to sail in summer we sail in June and he is fine with everything.

This is our problem. We took our kid out for two separate week-long Disney trips this year and got blasted by the principal. Figured since it was Kindergarten we'd be ok but she wasn't happy with us. Already taking him out for a week in Nov 2019 for Disney Xmas decoration trip so it's summer cruise or nothing.

IMHO, yes, it can be too hot in the summer to enjoy warm weather destinations. The decks on the ship can burn your feet and so can the walkways at CC. However, the water at CC and other beaches feel great! We took an EC cruise a few Junes ago and we did not like the heat.
