Look at my timer and tell me, is it too early to pack! I am doin' the 30(ish) day dance already!!
SO would you start packing?

I don't think it's too early at all. I didn't actually start packing until this week but I have been putting together things in a pile in our spare room for weeks now. It sort of helps with all of the waiting! Now - GET PACKING!!! Hope you have a great trip.

No it's never too early!!;) I'm actually starting to put things aside already. Especially over the next few weeks as I get my fall and winter clothes down from the attic and put the summer clothes away. I'll be pulling out shorts, etc. to pack. Have fun!!:earsboy:

Samantha,
I've been packing some stuff for months! I have a box (diaper case size) where I pack stuff for the trip. I have glow sticks, pins for trading, ponchos, autograph book, Disney character t-shirts, sunscreen, Disney stickers & tattoos, Brita fill & go bottles, soft sided cooler, clothespins, ziploc bags (you know, the stuff you don't use everyday & don't want to forget). Whenever I come across something for the trip I throw it in the box if it is not clothing we'll be wearing! Now that summer is ending you can probably pack up the summer outfits you are bringing (unless you live in warm weather year round!). I am going to keep my Disney box accessible ALL THE TIME because hopefully we'll keep piggybacking Disney trip after Disney trip!!!!

Our timers are very similar dixiegirl! We miss each other by a little! YOu have a great trip too.

DH is thinking I am crazy. We don't have a spare room anymore.
(can you believe the nerve of the little guy I gave birth to expecting his own room? Man! That was my reading room!)
My suitcase will be in our bedroom but I soooooooo want to start today!!!:teeth:

I'm probably not a good judge to by, I start packing 2 days before.

You know my answer!!;)

OF COURSE its never too early to start packing!!

My suitcases are sitting in our spare bedroom from our August trip with a couple of things in it. I do have to start doing some packing so I don't forget anything!! I haven't done as much for this trip like I did for the August trip by now. I need to get going! But I'm pre-occupied with my DD's birthday party Oct 8!

I haven't started yet. I will do it all in one afternoon. I'm thinking next Sunday (9/26). For me THAT's early. I have to work all day Mon & Tue and W/ DS football practice Mon night and Tue night I have a tupperware party to go to. Otherwise I'd do it one of those nights. I find packing to be 1/2 the fun and I don't want to rush it I guess.

I'll admit the suitcases are out. They're empty though. It's also only because we were on a trip over labor day and I didn't see no reason in lugging them back to storage for 3 weeks.

I gather things together that I won't be needing and make a packing list. As long as I have the list I don't worry too much about forgetting things. I'm going to go ahead and pack one suitcase of things that we won't be needing between now and then (snack foods, rain ponchos, etc) and will wait on the clothes since we're still wearing summer clothes.

This will be an easy trip to pack for since it's only my DH and me going. The hard part will be getting all my ducks in a row at home since my in-laws will be watching the kids. I have to arrange and wrote down all the carpools, directions to places they might have to bring the kids, daily routines, etc. I also need to buy a bunch of groceries and give the house a good cleaning the day or two before leaving. My MIL is not used to doing housework (she has a cleaning person) and with 4 kids, 2 dogs, and 2 cats my house goes downhill fast if not given constant attention.

I've already been working on all this, but no doubt there will be a last minute panic, anyway.

I'm not good with lists, so I just pack what I plan to take when I think of it!

It's never too early to pack, as long as you have the room somewhere.

A good thing to pack that will keep you busy for a while is your first aid/medications bag. Check to see that you have allergy medicine, cold medicine, stomach medicine, all for adults and kids, band aids, etc. etc., in small enough sizes to pack. If there are prescription medications that will need to be added the day you leave, write a note and put it in the bag.

Now is also a good time to make a packing list and save it on your computer. I divide mine up into separate charts - Clothes, medications, outdoor/pool, airplane, etc. If you save it on your computer now, you will save lots of time on future trips.

beattyfamily- didn't you start packing for your August trip in Jan?;) ( We need to plan our RFC trip!)

Well I have list made and could you believe I forgot to include binkies!! I can leave EVERYTHING else at home but NOT THE BINKIES!! OK. I am getting the suitcases out this weekend!!

The weather where I live has taken a turn for the worst so all the things that normally go into storage this time of year, shorts, etc, are headed straight for the suitcase.

Go for it!

I also have my packing list on the computer. Before printing it out for this trip I went in and customized it, printed, and then did NOT save the changes. That way I can keep a master list and if I think if something to add to it, it's easy to do.

I have a hand written before vacation to-do list that I need to put on the computer. Actually, I have two lists, things that I need to do in advance and another list of last minute things. Lists are my friends and I can't imagine doing anything without a list (I keep a daily to-do list at all times). :teeth:

Tigger & Belle,

Leaving the kids at home is more work than taking them along, isn't it!!

Me & hubby went in April 03. I had a conference in Orlando, then we spent a couple days extra at WDW (my one and only boondoggle after 8 years with the company). It was the height of baseball season, with one on Varsity and the other on the Freshman team and my poor parents couldn't believe what we did every night!!!

My older son totaled his car just a couple weeks before that and the insurance hadn't settled yet, so they had to be driven everywhere. They stayed at my folks house so I didn't have to do anything to the house.

Thankfully they are old enough now that it is no longer an issue. My older son is in college, so can't come at all, and my younger son will be flying home for the week to go to school and will only be with us on the weekends.

However, a couple of weeks ago, I did call the girlfriends' moms to let them know we wouldn't be home so the boys wouldn't pull a sneaky and say they are inviting the girls over for dinner!! I got mega bonus points with their moms on that one :-)

Clkelley, you're telling me that it's a lot of work to NOT bring the kids! Maybe this is why I like to go with only one of my kids and leave my DH home to tend the house. lol I know that once I'm there I will have a wonderful time and am really looking forward to getting away, but the few days before will be crazy.

I'm trying to arrange it so my in-laws don't have to do hardly any driving to activities. And if they go somewhere in the evening I'm hoping that they'll let my DD drive. She doesn't have her license yet, but has had her permit for awhile, knows the roads, and I trust her driving more than their driving.

I still have to make PS's, get Cirque tickets, get my DH's hopper ticket, etc. How much time do I think I have??? :teeth:

Good for you calling the parents of your son's girlfriends and giving them a warning about you being out of town. I bet your sons weren't too happy with you, even though they sure wouldn't admit it. I'd do the same, too, and hope my DD's boyfriend's parents would also do that.

I am 29 days out and I am starting this weekend. Last weekend went to Disneyland for DD's birthday and forgot: sunscreen, the kids pin lanyards (boy that got me in trouble), disposable camera, extra camcorder batteries and my son's favorite nightshirt just to name a few! Didn't start packing until a few days before because it was such a short trip. Well I learned my lesson! Lets face it, Disney trips are different and just need more planning than most other vacations.

I need to start packing!!!
:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

I just had to go out to get more shorts and socks for the kids. I think I threw out about 10 holey socks on laundry day and put a few more shorts in the "too small" pile.

Now that they actually have clothes, I need to get moving.

I also have a packing list on the computer. I have a special page just for DISNEY packing! Where else do I wear a fanny pack??:scratchin

I'm leaving in 10 hours and am only 20% packed. And I need to sleep. So clearly I'm not the best source of advice on this subject!

:bounce:

We aren't leaving until December and I've already got the suitcase out in the spare bedroom and throwing things in it when I think of it! :teeth: This trip is a surprise for the kids, so they are probably wondering why mommy is tossing their autograph books and pressed penny books into a suitcase.

I'm excited about going so casually packing has been fun! :hyper:
