Too deep for a GoPro?

My son will will be taking a scuba excursion on St Maarten while on DCL. I am debating on whether to purchase a GoPro to use on that excursion (among other places). GoPro claims their cameras are waterproof to 33ft depth. How would I know if their tour goes deeper than that, possibly destroying the camera. Thoughts?

A scuba dive will typically go much lower than 33 ft. Probably 60' or more.
