My cousin and her husband were in the Orlando area for a couple of days this past weekend and decided to go to Epcot on Saturday. She hasn't been there in at least 10 years and it's been even longer for her husband, so quite a bit has changed since either of them have been there. Too bad she did tell me she was planning on visiting the parks while they were there or I could have given her some tips and advice...this was our conversation yesterday:

My cousin: So we went to EPCOT, but we thought it was boring
Me: Really??? what did you do?
My cousin: well, we didn't really get to do anything. it was really crowded
and the good rides like Test Track and Soarin had 80 minute waits and we
didn't want to wait in line that long
Me: Yeah, it gets crowded on weekends any time of year. So were they
already out of fastpasses by the time you got there?
My cousin: fastpass?? what's that??
Me: You didn't see the kiosks beside the lines for the rides? You put your
ticket in and get a ticket back that tells you what time you can come
back to the ride and walk on instead of waiting in line
My cousin: No one told us about that!! Oh, I want to go back now!!!

So basically they wasted a lot of money to get in as well as the time they did spend there. If only they had asked me a couple of questions...

I bet next time they will ask you some questions :goodvibes

I found this website before my trip in 2000 and learned soooo much.. If I hadnt of done that, I would have been in a world of hurt.. I didnt have anyone to ask so I was glad to find this site to at least help me plan.

I don't get it either. We could be so helpful:earsboy:

I guess the old adage, "Live and learn" applies here. Too bad they spent all that $$$..they'll know better next time.

I know what you mean!! My SIL and her family are going to WDW in January. SIL knows how much of a Disney freak I am, so she asked for advice concerning the parks, planning, ADRs, etc. I gave her lots of great tips and tricks- AND SHE ISN'T PAYING ATTENTION TO ANY OF THEM!!

I told her about making ADRs- she says "maybe we'll make one or two later, don't know though". I advised her which days are best for which parks, but "that just seems so structured- maybe we'll just decide where to go each morning depending on what the kids want to do". I tell her all about FPs- "now, how much do we have to pay for them?". I stress the importance of getting to the parks early- "But we're on vacation!! We want to sleep in!".

Aaaarrrghh!!! I give up. We will spend 2 days with them, and I plan on just telling them where to go and what to do. Those 2 days will probably be the least stressful and most fun they have all week. And I'll bet that after they get home from their trip, they'll say "Why didn't you tell us all this stuff?"
