Is Tony's town Square any good? I booked it for my "new" restaurant for 2014.

if you enjoyed it, what did you have?
i'm on the basic dining plan

I have had great and not so great experiences there. The last time we ate there I was freezing and it made the meal miserable. I ordered the Canneloni and didn't care for it. My DS had the steak and it melted in my mouth when I tried it. The atmosphere is really cool. We were there near parade time and could see some of the parade from our table. The desserts are ALWAYS yummy.

Dh and I have eaten there twice and both times have had a really good experience. I ordered the mozzarella and tomato salad (Yum!) and the shrimp scampi (yummy!), DH has the chicken parm and he really enjoyed it as well. Our servers have been really attentive and sweet. Our first time was for our honeymoon and the second time was for our anniversary. Both times they treated us really nice and we even got a card autographed by Mickey and pals". I would recommend it and we will probably be going back there in the near future.

I like tony's. I know there are mixed reviews about it but we've never had a bad meal there. Is it authentic Italian food...no but it's decent and the overall experience is fun! I always get the chicken parm and my DH gets the shrimp scampi. I say try it, especially if you are paying OOP. We find it to be a good value and even when we do the dining plan we pay OOP and save the dining credit for a signature meal.

It's a mixed bag - I found it ok but I thought the spaghetti sauce was too sour but my Dad, the consumate italian, loved it.

Likewise here on this forum you'll see extremes of great to awful but I find that true of most of the DW restaurants.

We ate there a on our last trip and all 6 of us really enjoyed it. The chicken parm was great. Both of the kids asked to go back there on our next trip which to me says a lot.

My general experience has been that they have decent food but not great. The shrimp scampi is good, and I've enjoyed the appetizers like calamari and zucchini fries. Not crazy about their tomato sauce so I stay away from any of those dishes.

Honestly, we found the food to be horrible. Its the only place my son absolutely refuses to go to. Spag/balls and chicken parm were equally disgusting. I think its the horrid tomato sauce.

People who have tried non-tomato sauce based dishes seemed to enjoy their meal, from what i've observed. perhaps thats the way to go.

I say give it a try for yourself and see how you like it.

I ate there two weeks ago and enjoyed it. You can see my pics from my trip report http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3223240

I had the butternut squash soup and enjoyed every bit. The waitress recommended it and it was delicious. I also chose the spaghetti, child's portion, after looking at the table one over and seeing how huge the adult portions were.
I also chose a cheesecake but was waaay underwhelmed with the dry, odd consistency. The plate was very cute, though, with the Lady & the Tramp embossed in what looked like a thin thread of chocolate.

The decor/theming was eye-catching and creative. I would recommend it, but keep in mind this is not quality Italian food, worthy of zagat reviews. This is a disney restaurant where the location and theming contribute to the overall meal experience.

I would eat here again. I loved being right there by the evening parade.

We went for lunch this past November for the 1st time. I had the eggplant dish and I can't remember what my husband had. At any rate, the food was fine. Nothing spectacular but nothing awful either. We wouldn't hesitate to go back but by no means is it on our "must do" list.

I have eaten here 2 times. Both times the food was average, nothing special. We were a party of 6 and none of us had any complaints about the food, but none of us were raving either. If you do eat here you may want to try to sit in the sun room when a parade is going by. We had a 8:00 ressie and were able to watch the 9:00 electric parade go by.

I had mixed feelings about this restaurant. When we go to Disney we try to get restaurants that serve things that we normally don't get at home. I booked it just to get something in the date before restaurants booked up.

My anxiety kicks up when I plan my vacation because I feel like I have to do everything NOW so that nothing gets booked up and anxiety about the weather. When I picked May to go, I forgot how hot the weather can be at times.. Eeek.

So from now til May I am going to recheck BOG (Be Our Guest) for dinner... But i highly don't think it will open up... :(

We finally tried Tonys this past December. It was good decent but not great. With that said, we would go back. Our waitress was great even though it was busy.

What about Crystal Palace for dinner?

Keep checking those BOG reservations. Last September I was checking the ADR cancelled threads and some one was canceling... We coordinated through private messages and I ended up scoring a reservation 1 week before going.

Yeah. I'm thinking of checking weekly.
lol. If i don't get a table service at BOG, I'll go for lunch...

Worst service ever (now read it with Comic Book Guy's voice) :lmao:

We were kept waiting 45 mins past our PS, then we were hurried along so quickly to get us out, I said we would never eat there again. My main was tortellini in tomato sauce-4 pieces. I had finished before DH had picked his fork up! The waiter took away my plate and bought me the dessert menu whist he was still eating his main. Unbelievably rude.

Apart from that it was OK...I have heard its better for lunch than dinner

The easiest way to figure out if you would like the food at Tony's Town Square is if you like the food at Olive Garden and also like cheap jar sauces like Francesca Rinaldi, Prego, Ragu, ect. If you think those things are delicious, then you will probably fall into the camp here that is saying they loved stuff on the menu here like the chicken parm and the spaghetti.

Me? I'm Italian and was raised in an Italian household, so I know what real Italian food should taste like, so I can't abide Olive Garden and those cheap jar sauces. I tried Tony's because of the theming and because some of the people on here and All Ears loved the chicken parm - I found it horrible. Again, I'm sure it's because I'm used to homemade Italian and what you can get in decent italian pizza places or restaurants. I tend not to like commercialized/mass produced/processed Italian food at all.

I basically feel the same about Mama Melroses. But it is true that if you stay away from the more "Italian-like" tomato sauce based dishes, you can possibly have a pretty good meal there, and maybe even at Tony's.

I had a better TS meal at the Plaza than Tony's to be honest, and I just had a sandwich there.

Don't give up hope! I'm going down to Disney tonight, and I've been checking daily the past two or three weeks for a better Ohana time, and as the date's gotten closer, I've checked more than once a day. I've seen every popular restaurant with openings, including BoG about 3 times.

And as for the original question, I like Tony's. Maybe it's not high quality Italian food, but I've always enjoyed my food. I really like the zucchini fries app, and I've never had a problem with the service! The theming is cute, and if it's a nice day, I like to sit outside and enjoy the view.

Eh. I'm a big fan of authentic Mexican food, but I can eat at Taco Bell. I just have to know what I'm getting into and that it isn't real Mexican food. That's how I go into places like Olive Garden and Johnny Carino's. I'm eating at Tony's tomorrow. Hoping for a fun experience! I just can't decide between having the tomato mozzarella salad and minestrone soup or having the shrimp scampi. :scratchin

I was very nervous to try this last year due to all the negative reviews. However, I'm glad we did b/c it was really good! I had the mushroom ravioli and it was awesome. The bread with the dipping oil was really good too. Definitely worth trying!

We really liked the food. I had the New York strip steak and it was very good . My son had a pasta dish and loved it, but he loves any pasta dish. The bread with oil was good.

The theme of the restaurant was cute.

Our service was Horrible! The waiter was the worst and all of his tables were complaining about him. But that does not mean the other waitstaff is bad.

I think Tony's has good food but definitely not comparative to Tutto Italia or real Italian food. We live in Orange CT which is right next to New Haven CT. There is a large community of Italians so nothing compares to their Italian restaurants, bakeries, pizza and food markets.

As one of the previous posts stated Tony's similiar to Olive Garden.
