we're trying to decide on our TS meal for MK and i need some opinions, please! tony's town square, the plaza or liberty tree tavern for dinner? thanks, guys.

We've eaten at all three, and the only one I like of the three is Liberty Tree. It gets a bad rap on a lot of posts because the food is pretty plain, but everyone in my family likes it because it is so plain. DH liked Tony's (we just ate there for the first time over Christmas), having the chicken parmesan for lunch. I ordered the baked ziti and found nothing baked about it--just a glob of ziti mixed with lots of sauce and a little cheese and barely warm. DS was bummed there wasn't any fetticini alfredo, so he ordered the chicken pizza meal thing--yuck!!!!

Give me salad with strawberry vinagrette dressing, warm rolls, turkey and mashed potatoes with yummy gravy, green beans, and even slightly dry ham at Liberty Tree anyday.

I've only eaten at tony's and the plaza. for some reason the liberty tree always seems heavy to me because its usually warm/hot when we go. tony's was horrible, really awful. we loved the plaza! great sandwiches, would love to have a plaza club right now. I will definitely return.

all 3 you have listed have very different menus. does one appeal to you more than the other?

We ate at tony's in September and I wasn't all that impressed. The food tasted like ash to me. What I mean by that is no taste at all. No seasoning, nothing. I also remeber them not having a selection for a dessert menu. We had a plate put in front of us with a bunch of things.

Although we love Italian food we are not fans of Itanlian desserts and would have prefferd to select one item as appose to the restuarant choosing it for you.

Funny thing, I just got an email from my DIL who told me Tony's is the place to eat at MK. From what I read here, I think I personally would prefer the Liberty Tree.

Liberty Tree has the characters at dinner. We always enjoy it there, even if the food is kinda plain. Meat and potato types will love this place though! My son chose this restaurant for our upcoming Feb trip. I would probably skip it also in the summer months.

We ate at both Tony's and Liberty Tree and prefer LTT. The food was good, the characters were great and it was a fun time. At Tony's we were cold because they had the AC on way too low and our food was cold. Of all the places we ate, it was the worst.

We ate at Tony's for the 1st time last Sept and it was awful. My DS loves Italian food (DIL are italian so gets it alot) and he would not eat the Spaghetti. I ate my appetizer but hated the entre and did not eat. DH ate entre but hated appetizer.

However we loved LT. The tri-corner was soooo good as was dessert. But a warning everything has big portions.:thumbsup2

The best thing you can do is hop on the monorail and go to 'ohana or the Kona Cafe at the Poly. Barring that, Tony's is the best of that fairly average list

5 years ago, we at Tony's and it was one the best meals I had ever had, it was some kind of meat (I believe it was veal, I can't remember)on this awesome risotto. Since then, every year we have gone back (since I plan the meal the DH has little care as to where he eats), each time I hope that I will get some meal just as satisfying...only to be so disappointed. The latest adventure was in September, it was during a free dining time, so I always feel like the food suffers. This time was the complete WORST. I ordered steak, as we had had spoodles the day before. It was the worst thing I have ever tasted. The server was completely rude, and most of the people at our table were overly thrilled with there's either. The brought me out another steak and it was cold, as if had been sitting around. Horrible.

So alas, I have given up on Tony's.

I always enjoy the Plaza, but it's less serious fare (sandwiches and such) and more of a lunch place than dinner in my mind. Liberty Tree has pretty good food (not the best, certainly not the worst) and it's really fun with the Characters.

Good Luck.

really? that's something i didn't think of. there are only 3 TS restaurants in MK and none of them are really jumping out at me. if we were to do that, how long would we need to allow for the ride to the poly? for example, if we had 7:00 reservations, when do you think we'd need to leave MK on the monorail? i have a park hopper, so it wouldn't be a problem getting back in.

also, this may sound silly, but which one is most like p.f. chang's (if you've ever been there)? i love oriental food, but my DH is not really crazy about it. he loves p.f. chang's though, so if either one is similar that should be fine.

by the way, i love your mickey-darth thingie. my DH is a die-hard star wars fan. :)

I really think it depends on what you are looking for.

I personally like LTT better for lunch than dinner. That said, the dinner is not *bad*, just like the offerings at lunch better and my kids are kind of over the whole character thing.

We have only eaten at Tony's once. It was O.K., but nothing too special and the service we had was very slow.

Now, we love the Plaza. The sandwiches are always fresh, the atmosphere is very pleasant, although maybe a little noisy, but you'll get that at the other two places as well. There seems to be something everyone in my family likes and the food is filling, yet light. Of course my kids love the ice cream there, too.

Hope that helps!:)

Are all the dinners at Liberty Tree character dinners? We were thinking of doing one anyway..so that would be neat.
How far in advance should we make ressies??:coffee:

from reading my little dining plan guide, it's my understanding that only the dinner there is character dining. it's called "goofy's liberate your appetite character dinner". but the lunch is not character dining. not sure about the timing of the reservations. we're going in may and i've already made my reservations, but i may be jumping the gun a little.

I'll put in another vote for LTT! We ate there for our first time this past December and we loved it! We'll definitely be booking it again!

Another vote for the LLT. We ate there in November for the 1st time and it was great. The food was really good and served family style and the character interaction was fantastic. My DH even got his picture taken with Goofy! We will definatly eat there again next time we visit the Kingdom!!:goodvibes

We always do lunch at the Liberty Tree Tavern. Sandwiches are delicious, and the griddled pound cake with caramel and ice cream is definitely the reason I go back time after time!!!

Depends on where you are int he park and how crowded it is. I'd want to be out of the gates by at least 6:40 for a 7:00 at a monorail restaurant.

If we want a good meal and aren't worried about time, we typically leave MK. Liberty Tree would be my favorite of the three listed, however.

Probably Kona Cafe. It regularly gets good reviews for its food (although other places have better theming).
