So we've got a reservation at Tony's for our trip next month. Not my choice, but someone else in our party really enjoyed it when they went and everyone else went along with it. I've never been, but the reviews are pretty bad. Did anyone go there and get something that they would recommend ordering? I'm stuck going so I figure I may as well try to make the best of it. Thanks!

My wife likes the shrimp scampi . I've tried the spaghetti sauce from the kids meals and it's pretty plain. So I stick with the pizzas. I try not to pay to much attention to reviews, I like to judge for myself.

Our food was fine. The kids got spaghetti and meatballs, which per their standards was really good. My husband got the chicken parm and I ate the pasta primavera. The meal was decent, no complaints there. I found the service lacking though. Long wait, overly crowded, and the waiter dropped the drinks on my husband. It was an accident of course, but it certainly wasn't the experience we were thinking of. I'd still try it again and insist on sitting at a less crowded area. We just had the bad luck of being sat right next to the door and wait service station where foot traffic was constant. Keep a good outlook, you may have a wonderful experience and you won't know until you try it.

We've never had a bad meal at Tony's and service has always been great. Chicken Parmigiana, New York steak and Pasta Primavera were all very good.

Honestly, I try not to as well- especially considering so many Disney places seem pretty inconsistent. Tony's just seems to be one of those places that is almost universally disliked, so I figured I'd see if there was something there that just always seems to be good.

Thanks for the replies so far!

On the disney trip reports thread there is a a review of tony's with pictures under "A Christmas Dining Extravaganza". I have never been but I might have to try it sometime because Lady and the Tramp is my favourite Disney movie.:)

I love Tony's. The chicken parmesan is very good and the pistachio crème brulee is one of my favorite desserts on WDW property.

My DH and I both had the Chicken Parm last time we went. It wasn't horrible but not good enough to make me "have" to go back. The pistachio crème brulee was amazing like SuzieN said.

Our last meal there was a disappointment. The food was adequate at best. The good news was we were seated after only a few minutes wait without any reservation at dinner time and had a nice table with a bit of a view.

Reading the reviews on the various forums seem to indicate that this is a restaurant that can be missed without any regrets. I keep hoping that will change.

Love your avatar!

If I ever went back, which I don't anticipate ................

If on DDP, I'd probably try the steak and cross my fingers. I for sure would not get any pasta meals.
If paying cash, I might just get an appetizer sized salad.
If someone wanted to split a flatbread maybe that too, but wouldn't order an entree on my own.
I'd rather save money and stomach space for a good snack later.

Another restaurant? Seriously, let the people who think this is a good idea waste their money while you do something else (watching paint dry would be a better alternative IMHO) !

After several visits spanning several decades (my Mother freaking loves that place for no known reason) the only thing I've ever had at Tony's that I considered good-ish was the steak. And I'll agree that the pistachio creme brulee is pretty good too.

I do have one personal rule if ever forced to eat at Tony's ... I avoid anything with red sauce on it. While their recipe has changed over the years, I've never liked any of their offerings. Not even a little bit.

Besides skipping it? I would say the chicken parm was ok at best.

The Chicken parm dinner. We had read so many reviews but decided to try it ourselves. We enjoyed it. Maybe they just aren't very consistent, but we had a good meal.

Can't remember what I usually order but it is fine. I think I usually get the Chicken Parm or Chicken Ceaser and can't complain about either. I never have gotten the complete dislike for the place. I would say it is on par with the delivery Italian I get in NYC. Basically meaning it isn't anything to write home about and definitely isn't traditional but it will do.

A common complaint about the dishes at Tony's seems to be that the red sauce is awful. Perhaps this is the reason a couple of folks on the thread have mentioned steak? Peachkins any chance you could convince those in your party that are insistent on going there that just about anything else would be better?

I'm not sure why, but we are huge fans of the spaghetti & meatballs. I have no interest in ordering a different meal, not because I think they're bad, but rather I just can't give up the
S & MB's.

PS- we also used to get an app, the name slips me... It was the tomato, cheese, and balsamic combo. Quite good.
