Is the Tonga Toast really all that everybody makes it out to be?
Yes, it really is delicious. I order mine a bit differently than most, however. I do not like it deep-fried as it is too greasy for me. If it were smaller I'd be fine with the frying but it is quite large. Instead, I order mine grilled. It's still just as good but not quite as heavy.
That would be more up my alley. I would not want it deep friend if I could try it any other way.
You will not be disappointed! Enjoy.

When you order it, do you just ask them to grill it instead of fry it?That would be more up my alley. I would not want it deep friend if I could try it any other way.
. But I find with most food items so dearly loved by us on the DIS that most of the time they're pretty overrated (not that they're not good but not worth all of the raving about either).I hope the answer is yes. We are trying it at Kona in December for the first time.

I found it too greasy personally, as did my DH. Now the macadamia nut pancakes in Kona are a whoooooole different matter! To die for!
