I have enjoyed both, I don't think you can go wrong with either choice! Just a word of forewarning, the pancakes are incredibly packed FULL of macadamia nuts - they're very very good, but extremely filling!
I had the pancakes and DH had the tonga toast on our first trip. He loved the tonga toast while I loved the pancakes more than the tonga toast - I don't like cooked bananas so that was my reasoning. However, that strawberry compote they bring with the tonga toast is amazing... Drooling for it now!
I have been a fan of Tonga Toast since I first had it in 2002. This past summer I had that one morning, then another morning I tried the pineapple/macadamia nut pancakes and WOW! I think the caption I put on my picture was "I cant believe I found something I like better than Tonga Toast", LOL! Let's just say on our next trip we are making a spcial trip over to the Poly for breakfast one morning so I can get the pancakes again.
I love tonga toast . it was so good. I will admit though it was alot of food and I about fell in the floor when they brought it to me. I wondered how they make it. yum yum yum.
Ideally I would get both and share, but I know dh wouldn't like the macadamia nut pancakes. I had the tonga toast last time, and it was very good, but it was so sweet there was just too much of it.
we found the tonga toast to be sickeningly sweet...and something about whole hot bananas in the center was just ewww: the texture was slime. There were 3 of us (adults) and we could not finish one order of tonga toast...about 2 bites each was enough to decide that despite our collective sweet teeth we couldn't handle tonga toast.
On the other hand, we really loved the macadamia pineapple pancakes which came with the Big Kahuna breakfast (which is our favorite breakfast to order there...comes with sausage, ham and eggs too. The pancakes on this breakfast are "normal" side-order sized pancakes -- like about 5" diameter. If you order the pancakes as the entree, they are plate-sized...a huge order.)
