Tonga Toast - Kona Cafe

We love Kona Cafe and Tonga Toast. We usually do this on close to our last day so we have done most of what we wanted in the parks, so if we miss something due to not making rope drop, it's not a big deal. Kona is a must-do for us

For those if us that do not roast our own beans, the pressed pot us good. Did he get the pressed pot or just regular brewed? I agree their regular brewed is ok, not spectacular, but I don't, nor do I ever wish to, roast my own coffee beans. I bet it smells like heaven in your house!!!!

He got the pressed pot. He is hard to impress when it comes to coffee though I'm sure. It wasn't bad, just wasn't as good as he hoped.

Actually the smell of the beans roasting I don't care for so I make him do it outside, lol. There is an unpleasant burnt smell when roasting raw beans. Now when he grinds them it smells good.

I had the toast our last day at WDW last year. Too sweet. Overrated. And I have a permanent sweet tooth. If you get it have the sauce on the side. Not worth missing rd. I would go back to Kona but not for the toast.

This is me too, I have a major sweet tooth. The rest of my week I was eating cupcakes, fruit tarts, candied strawberries, various fruit slushes and pastries galore. But for breakfast it was way too sweet for me. It would have been better I think in a smaller serving as part of a fuller meal perhaps, but I couldn't manage more than half of it.

Love Tonga Toast, it is very sweet though. I eat this on my departing day every year.

Tonga Toast was great with the sauce, don't know that it would be that good without it. We've only done rope once & not on purpose, so it's not a big deal for us. In your situation, I'd get the earliest Kona ADR I could & try to make rope drop.

It's good but if you only have one day at MK, it's not worth missing rope drop for. Particularly with the Anna & Elsa craziness lately.

If you are RD people, I would not miss RD to go to Kona, but that being said we had our worst dining experience at WDW with a Kona breakfast. The food was horrible and the service even worse.

I love RD. It's just so magical!!

But, I love the Samoan at Kona more. YUM!!!!!!!!!!

And it was so sweet it actually upset my stomach so i couldn't finish it.

Yeah - I had them make mine without rolling it in sugar, and I thought it was perfect that way, with the strawberry sauce.

It's all subjective. I've loved the Tonga Toast since 1974 and just as much last week when we were at the Poly/Kona. I'm in the minority in that I don't like the strawberry sauce - I like it with regular syryup. :). For me, it wouldn't be a WDW vacation without having Tonga Toast at least once - imo, it's heavenly. Otoh, my DH loves the macadamia nut pancakes more.

I love Kona Cafe in general. There are many CM's that have worked there for decades and they are fun to chat with - and the service has always been great.

We have a 10am ADR on a non park day. So we will have some time to look around the Poly after. We are thinking DH will get the Tonga Toast, I'll get the two egg breakfast and we will each share with each other. That way we don't overload on sweet and can have some non sweet things too. And of course we'll try the pressed pot coffee.
