Tomorrowland Speedway?

This, exactly. It's not much fun as an adult, but it's great for the kids and certainly has a role. It is ironic, however, that something called named after Tomorrowland would be so horribly behind the times from a tech standpoint. The cars are loud, smell terrible, and are very much the vehicles of the past. An upgrade to electric cars is an obvious change that really needs to happen, and the idea to use it as an opportunity to bring the Cars characters into the park is a great one.

This is exactly what I was meaning to say. It's embarrassing because it's so archaic and it's in Tomorrowland. You can practically see the smog cloud around it.

I don't know that I'd like to see the ride removed. But I would really like to see them switch to electric powered cars.

I've thought that, myself. Esp. to those standing in line while the cars back up...those exhaust fumes....

I'd love to see it updated somewhat, too. My DW and I rode Autopia in Disneyland Paris and it was beautiful...about the highlight ride of our trip there.

Would be neat to see it updated here (Cars theme would be neat but probably not the best...esp. since it's in Tomorrowland)

I don't know about the ride being embaressing but I was beyond embarresed when riding it. I do not know WHAT I was doing wrong but had NO control of it. I was going at a snails pace and bumping back and forth into that divider. I think I thought it was a track and had to keep my car on top of it (memory a bit foggy because I was SO humiliated!) Then when I get off I walk over that overpass and realize everyone could see my great driving skills to top it all off!

Get rid of it?? No way! I remember loving it as a child....and now my girls, who are 8 and 5, absolutely adore it. They were giggling and squealing like crazy when we rode it a few months ago. Maybe they could just refurbish it.

The worst part is DD loves it A must do for DH and DD every trip, since there is always such a line I get some shopping done Maybe it's time for a "Cars" make over

I wouldn't get rid of it. I think it would be great if the cars were updated as Lightning McQueen and Mater, though.

I never really pay attention to the cars whenever we go. XD

While I do like Cars, I wouldn't like an update to the Speedway. It would feel too out of place with Cosmic Rays right across the way (and with the rest of Tomorrowland).

Updating the cars to electric would be great though. ^_^

I love the smell of those diesel engines.

Gasoline. But I'm guessing they're two-strokes, so you get the oil smell from the oil/gas mixture.
